Excellent pain management doctor
I was a patient of Dr. Wenger for back pain. He knows what he's doing. The staff here is excellent! He managed my pain for as long as possible, but he also knew when it was time to send me to a surgeon. After a long stretch of helpful shots and physical therapy, my back pain began to progress. That's when Dr. Wenger said, "You want to get this fixed?" He referred me to a surgeon who didn't think I needed surgery. Dr. Wenger then encouraged me to get a second opinion. I'm so glad! I had surgery and don't regret it.

Terrific Doc !!!
I saw Dr. Wenger to manage my post op pain (my second rotator cuff surgery, the first surgery did not go well in the post op period). He told me exactly what medications would work and also prescribed a CryoCuff. His recommendations were terrific and my recovery was uneventful.

We were referred to The Pain Center at BIDMC to see if they could recommend treatment for demyelination, a condition linked to chemos which destroy protective skeletal nerve coverings. Dr. Wenger stated that he already knew that my husband was there only to obtain narcotics, since his oncologist was retiring. When we advised that our PCP had already assumed that responsibility and was the one who made the referral, he did a quick exam to for neuropathy, that had already been ruled out in the records sent. When my husband tried to bring his attention back to the problem of demyelination, his only response was that he’d been in practice for over 20 years and had never seen a case of it, and he had nothing to offer. At that point, he ended the consultation and walked out. His condescending, uncaring and highly unprofessional attitude notwithstanding, it took over a month, for our PCP to get a visit report. Nothing about the visit made this trip from out-of-town worth even 1 star.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr Wenger. He took the time to explain what was causing me so much pain and what he was going to do with the injection. The staff at Beth Israel was also fabulous.
