Dr. Coco Dughi, MD

Dr. Dughi is a very fine physician who takes the time to talk, to explain decisions and treatments, and who has done a terrific job of keeping my health strong overall. I've gone to her for 15 years; it's great to have the same doctor for so long, knowing that she can assess my health as a whole person. Very highly recommend her!

Dr. Dughi has been my primary care physician for more than a decade, so I've had ample time to observe her practice. She is attentive, thorough, exceptionally knowledgeable, and, importantly, a great listener. If I could give her 6 stars, I would.

I have seen Dr. Dughi twice, after changing from a doctor whose listening skills seemed to be waning. I have never had a doctor who listened so well, and who responds with so much care and kindness. Her insight and decisions are truly good. I'm in, with a lot of relief.

Listens and is very concerned about my whole health picture

Doctor Dughi has been my GP for over 16 years. She is smart, caring and takes the time to explain ailments (medical issues), and options. She recommends specialists when required and stays abreast of your progress. If you can get in with Doctor Dughi ... you should.

I've been with her for over 25 years and wouldn't think to go anywhere else. She is caring, informed, listens to her patients and is very vested in their health outcome. Doesn't hesitate to refer patients to other specialists when needed. Top notch!!! If it is hard to get an appointment with her, it is because she is sought after for health care.

It took 11 months to get a first appt. Two years later my husband experienced severe daily heartburn. She prescribed Prilosec. A year passed and his quality of life was severely impacted so he asked her again what can be done. She said he should just stay on Prilosec for the rest of his life (he was mid-30s). He did some research and read about H. Pilori. He made another appt and asked if she could test for it. She tried to talk him out of even doing the non-invasive test and urged him to just medicate for the rest of his life instead. He insisted. The test came back positive. The cure is a simple combo of two common antibiotics. Even with a positive test she insisted he see a gastro specialist in the building. He had to wait weeks to get in. They didn't even run any other tests; it just felt like a scam to get more money around the medical center. After MONTHS of having to advocate for his own care, he finally got the script, retested a few weeks later and has never suffered since.

I wouldn't recommend Dr. Coco Dughi as an internist, nor the Boulder Medical Center, overall, as a hospital. Dr. Dughi is difficult to make an appointment with, likely because she is very over-scheduled. One often has to wait many months to see her. When you do get in, appointments are often rushed and do not feel thorough. Dr. Dughi refuses to take phone calls from patients, or to return them, instead requiring you to go through an assistant. If you have what seems to be an urgent health care concern, whether it be a possible UTI or pneumonia, her assistent tells you to go to the Emergency Room. It is almost as if she and her staff do NOT want to take care of you, especially if you are sick, or potentially so. Worse, there seems to be a lack of empathy and genuine concern for patients on Dr. Dughi's part, which may be the most important qualities a doctor possesses. It seems a reflection of today's poor medical care that Dr. Dughi and the Boulder Medical Cntr are caught up in.

Amazing human being let alone a great doctor. She is invested in her patients lives. You can tell in the way you are treated when you walk through the door. She is incredibly thorough and smart as a whip. Oh and she is funny as heck. I just don't want her to get any more popular otherwise I will have a hard time scheduling with her!

Coco is so fantastic! Always takes the time to listen. So caring and uplifting. 5 Stars!
