Dr. Montgomery and all his staff were incredible on my lower back surgery. He was honest straightforward and helpful with my first surgery. Have no problem going back if I ever need another. From Pre-surgery to end result I am happy.

If you want to keep your life intact, stay away from Dr. Montgomery. I went to him two years ago with pain in my legs that was the result of herniated discs in my neck. He told me that if I didn't have the surgery, I would end of up in a wheelchair. I walked into the hospital. When I woke up from the surgery, I was paralyzed from the waist down and my right arm was paralyzed. He had tore the covering of my spinal cord and damaged the cord. It took two more surgeries before my spinal fluid stopped leaking. I was hospitalized for three months. I will spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair unable to walk. If you go, beware. Be SURE you know and understand all the risks associated with your surgery.

I too was very disgusted with the way I was treated by staff as well as the doctor. With that being said one day at my appointment I told him that he had to work on his people skills cuz they sucked. He looked at me and apologized. He did go on to tell me that when patients come in they want guarantees that the surgery would be a success and when surgery falls short they blame him. So he doesn't sugar coat anything. I really do get that but we are people too. The staff have seemed to have lighten up maybe because of the separation from Upstate. My surgery was posterior fusion from C 2 to T2. I will tell you that Dr Montgomery is an excellent surgeon and I was realistic about the outcome and he exceeded my expectations. He gave me my life back. Yeah he can still work on people skills but that's a small price to pay when his knowledge and expertise saves your life.

I’ve had 2 different surgeries with Dr. Montgomery and both times the results exceeded my expectations. He has a reputation for being one of the best and I agree. He also has a great sense of humor which helps put you at ease. You can tell the he generally cares about the well being of his patients.

Went to him for a second opinion after fusion surgery, What a narcissist jerk. Asked him to fill out paperwork for workers comp, pretty much said he couldn’t be bothered. Do yourself a favor, and go some where else and a to a doctor that cares.

I have NEVER had such a bad experience with a Dr. I was referred after 3 of my Drs. realized the only solution to my Meralgia Paresthetica in my thigh was to released/decompress the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. Dr. Montgomery first told me there was no such procedure and that I was fat and that was the problem. Well, Dr. Ducic in D.C. does this surgery and since I had lost 40lbs last year, I have no clue how I was to lose 40 more.My condition worsened after I broke my right foot last year

If you don't mind being diagnosed with "Borderline Narcissistic Disorder and Depression" by a Neuro who talked to you for 4 minutes despite the fact you've never had any psychiatric issues or diagnosis, then he's your man! I went to him seeking help for a prosthetic disc problem to be lied to and have a nasty psyche diagnosis NOW PART OF MY PERMANENT Medical record. Funny I didn't know neuro's having the extra training psychiatrist's have. By ready for him to tell you your insurance company

My treatment: lumbar fusion single level. From very 1st appt when asked if if had questions or concerns if made it abundantly clear it had ZERO help at home for post-op assistance. I was assured after each visit that service would be provided immediately following release from hospital. 5 days went by before even PT showed up..No nurse. That took 10 days. 3 weeks out I am being denied by workers comp. every pain med that they prescribe because the proper form was not filed. Not recommended

I had a Chiari decompression surgery with Dr. Montgomery in May 2016. He did an excellent job as well as his staff and the hospital. Most of my symptoms are gone now and I'm doing much better. He definitely has the best experience with Chiari in the Upstate NY area. I run a local support group and have heard from a wide range of other patients (over 100 members). I always recommend him to anyone who needs a neurosurgeon.

This Doctor destroyed my nwck. First fusion never took it failed. Rhe second one he destroyed my neck. Fusing it crooked. My neck is damaged for life. No one can fix it. Not only did he damage my neck. He had me me in the wrong size neck brace which caused severe damage to my back below my neck. I hqs a about a foot and and a half large swelling from teying to make the collar fit me. Rhe welt was roughly an inch and half deep. It took my primary care Doctor to address this issue. I suffered bad.

Dr Montgomery is an egomaniac, conceited, self absorbed little person who thinks more of himself than his patients. I wouldn't let this guy near my dog!!!!!! His book smarts certainly don't translate into any type of people skills. He's horrible!!! Find another doctor. My opinion

I have been a patient of his for 8 years and recently just saw him regarding another back issue and he was nothing short of rude insulting and acted like a little kid when he found out I saw someone else to have a dorsal column implant put in.after my failed back operation he told me to start pain management,so I found someone and started it.He never once offered me pain management and then cops a attitude when I saw someone else!!!!also it shouldn't take 6 months to get a appointment!!!!
