I saw Dr. Cunningham monthly for 20 years attempting to diagnose my issues of deep, overwhelming sadness and inappropriate tearfulness -- crying 5 times per day -- I was a miserable, lonely person -- my behavior was dangerous and abhorent, like leaving my husband for no reason. I finally went to a new therapist and Psychiatrist, and they diagnosed my bipolar II the first day (on my 60th birthday), and I've been taking appropriate medication now for six years -- no more inappropriate crying -- better relationships, decisions and behavior. 20 years of my life wasted crying and contemplating suicide. The therapist Dr. Cunningham recommended (Sandra Strandquist MSW), I feel, should also have had a clue. Lesson: Get second opinions before wasting 20 years of your life.
