i had a wonderful experience with Dr Hagenau He is a very learned and kind man!! He did an exceptional job of diagnosing my problems. HE COMMUNICATED WITH MY FAMILY and ran the neccessary test to rule out the things it could be. He did come up the correct diagnoses of my immune system attacking my brain!! I was barely functioning because my brain had been so compromised by the infection. He gave me medicine and I had three infusions and all of a sudden I became aware of what was gong on around me and I looked up at my husband and I said "Rudy I am alive!! Ever since that day I get up every morning and give thanks to our Amazing God that he does perform miracles through our amazingly talented doctors at St Thomas!!

Not t a people person at all. There was no compassion at any of my visits with him. My last encounter I felt like crying & that he didn't care. Always in a hurry...

Dr. Hagenau does not take the time nor the care to listen to his patients even when you bring him in your complete correctly diagnosed medical history. He tended to make me very uncomfortable & for the better part said that I was completely misdiagnosed & nothing was wrong with me. He is an arrogant, pompous & rude & has no business whatsoever practicing medicine. I guess that’s why he’s with a low level practice & not someone more reputable. It’s sad that even his own staff talk about how arrogant & uncaring he is. This in itself says a lot about a so called medical professional when your own staff bad mouths how you treat the patients . New patients beware unless you want to strictly waste your money & time.

My dermatologist recommended Dr. Hagenau and after intently listening to my problem he prescribed something that actually helped very much. I've been dealing with this problem for years. Dr. Hagenau is simply blunt but very good with a lot of experience. I would definitely recommend him.

Agree with most of the posts on this site. Very dismissive, critical of my symptoms and not easy to talk to. He did a similar thing on one of these posts - asked me to stop talking as he dictated into the computer. Extremely rude and certainly not a compassionate doctor.

Terrible attitude. My wife went in struggling to deal with anxiety and depression and he made her feel less for these struggles. A pathetic excuse of a doctor.

Referred to him after previous neurologists did nothing for 6 months. Dr. Hagenau correctly diagnosed spinal stenosis at initial consultation.

Went to him for over a year w/symptoms of an autoimmune disorder. Kept being told I needed to lose weight & exercise more, considered me melodramatic when my cognitive issues had flared up. Had one MRI done w/o contrast. Claimed it was normal. My symptoms were getting worse as he waa still telling me I needed to lose weight & exercise more. I went for a 2nd opinion. Well, guess what? Within one month I had a Brain MRI w/ & w/o Contrast, a Cervical Spine MRI & a Spinal Tap. CONFIRMED Multiple Sclerosis! MS bands in csf & ms particulars in bloodwork, & lesions/spots in brain. My brain is covered with spots & lesions w/some grey matter issues as well. I've apparently had RRMS for years but it's lately become progressively worse. This guy missed that, didn't do enough tests, & above all else, treated me like an over reactive, melodramatic female. If you want to know what's actually going wrong w/you & going on w/your body go elsewhere! Thankful I did.

Due to my last neurologist not taking my insurance all of the sudden, I was referred to Dr Hagenau. I had to start all over on MS meds. He was very thorough, knows my Primary Care doctor so that was a plus. Very patient and courteous. Explained the new medication and the reasoning for me trying it out. So far I have had 3 infusions and it is working very well.

I suffered for 3 years and had been to numerous specialist. Dr. Hagenau diagnosed me day 1, ran some minor nerve test, and treated me with a low dose neuralgia medicine that literally saved me!!!! He never spoke down to me or seemed arrogant. I have seen him numerous times and always felt he was very attentive and caring! I'm an RN and I'll tell you, he has very good patient bedside manner compared to most MD's. Totally recommend!!!!

Dr Hagenau is wonderful, I highly recommend him. I have been a patient of his for almost 20 years and feel very confident with his suggestions and his ability to listen and make sound choices on my behalf. I have referred both my Mother and my husband to him in the past. His staff has been with him for decades and I always find the office to be friendly and timely.

Absolutely do not recommend! I drove 2 hours to see this doctor because of symptoms I have had that I feel possibly lifethreatening. He was very rude. Instead of talking to me directly at the end of the appointment, he talked into his dictophone, tape recorder, whatever......not even making eye contact with me. He made me feel like i shouldnt interrupt him and ask questions. Guess what doctor, you should dictate on your own time, not mine!!!!!! Complete waste of time! I wanted to cry.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Hagenau?
I found Dr. Hagenau extremely rude and dismissive. I’ve suffered from migraines and daily headaches for as long as I can remember and needed a neurologist in Nashville when I moved here. He was frustrated with my questions and basically said there was nothing he could do for me. I left the office nearly in tears, completely defeated by his short, abrasive attitude.

Dr. Hagenau told me to stop using my cane because I and others around me will view myself as an invalid. When I told him I viewed my developing a chronic illness as an empowering experience and that I didn't view myself as an invalid, he rolled his eyes. It seems as though he didn't even review my chart, as my main problem, my inability to concentrate due to fibro-fog, was talked about for maybe 2 minutes. He insisted he couldn't prescribe me anything to help with that, and told me to exercise.

Dr. Hagenau was my dad's neurologist when he had a massive stroke many years ago. Now my mom has also had a massive stroke, and our recent appointment with him was the best physician appointment we have had with anyone in the 5 months since her stroke. We left with a clear action plan, feeling good about where we are headed in her recovery. He took time to assess her, spoke TO her, and answered all our questions. Highly recommended.
