Life Saver
While on vacation in Kuai- my husband had an accident in a shallow pool, fracturing his skull in several spots and had significant blood clots in his brain. After being flight for lifed to Honolulu, we met Dr. Donovan and he knew instantly that my husband needed to be rushed to the OR. He spoke to me, reassured me and took my husband into emergency surgery- alone and not knowing if I would ever see my husband alive again- Dr. Donovan carefully put my husband back together and greeted me almost 5 hours later in the early morning hours in the hospital to insure I knew what had happened, stability of my husband and the unknowns moving forward. Not only was he a life saver of my husband, he was so Supportive of me and the amount of questions I had post surgery. My husband could have easily died this day, from an unfortunate accident, but Dr. Donovan was there and we owe our continued beautiful life together to God and the best neurosurgeon on the pacific rim- Dr. Donovan.

During a vacation in Hawaii, I fell significantly ill and ended up needing emergency brain surgery. Being away from home and faced with a lot of unknowns, I was very thankful to have Dr. Donovan support me before, during, and after surgery. He made time to answer my many questions before the procedure, did a fantastic job during the surgery, and came to check in on me every day after. His calm & thoughtful demeanor was incredibility reassuring during a very difficult period for me and my family. Dr. Donovan proved the kind of care that helped us get through this crisis. I am extremely grateful for skills and time. Thank you so much Dr. Donovan!

He was very uncompassionate. All he cared about was his own butt. He didn’t want to be liable for anyone else’s surgery, but I wasn’t asking for him to work on the surgery itself. I just wanted him to check my swelling. I couldn’t go back to the surgeon that did the surgery because he was on the mainland. All I wanted was him to advise me on what to do. I wasn’t asking him to do surgery to correct anything. I just wanted him to look at my scan and give me an opinion. No sympathy at all.

Dr. Donovan and his staff were very helpful, compassionate, skillful and available responding rapidly to a critical situation. I had a large tumor between the C1-C2 vertebrae; Dr. Donovan explained everything patiently and fully. Within two weeks of my initial visit he operated on me for over 8 hours. Post-operation, he visited me in the hospital room on at least a daily basis for the week I was there. He is highly skilled, patient, professional, meticulous, and caring. Highest recommendation!
