Disgusted
This man was beyond awful and does not deserve the title “doctor”. He was rude, dismissive, and honestly didn’t give a care in the world for me or my family. Someone this belligerent shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near patients, let alone children.

Doesn't Care About His Patients
I'm honestly shocked this is the guy that Johns Hopkins All Children's has chosen as 'Head of GI/Hep/Nutrition'. My child has clear evidence of a liver disease that was NOT addressed by this doctor. When I asked questions (at multiple visits), I was dismissed. The doctor hardly ever came in to see my son, always sending the NP....who frankly doesn't know much about her profession. I'm going elsewhere to seek a real specialist's advice and real treatment for my child. I HIGHLY recommend against bringing your child to this practice. You won't get answers unless it's a common disease...like constipation. I'm sure they know how to diagnose that. Anything else...particularly liver related? Go elsewhere. Absolutely appalling.

Amazing doctor
In the early 1990s, I was 8 years old and I was dying. This doctor diagnosed me, and tried every treatment available to help me. I ended up needing life saving surgery due to how severe my ulcerative colitis was. Dr. Hormel did a series of 3 surgeries on me and Dr. McClenathan took amazing care of me in the following years. If it hadn't been for this doctor, this surgeon, and a miracle from God, I wouldn't be here 30 years later. Dr. McClenathan saved my life. I definitely recommend him.

Traumatic for child and family
It was several years ago, but one should know before making an appt...my son was non verbal and autistic. he had developed GI problems after taking some medication to treat behaviors for his autism. Long story short, we were kept in the hospital longer than we needed to be (approx 8 wks) because of the doctor's misdiagnosis of my son and other issues. There is so much more to the story than I can share in this review. Let it suffice to say that the entire incident affected my family for some time. I would not recommend this doctor, rather I would recommend going anywhere but this practice.

Dr. McClenathan was easy to talk to, answered our questions and provided us with additional information to assist us. I've read the other reviews and am perplexed by them as I feel he was knowledgeable and felt comfortable with his opinion (I tend to be a bit hyper about my daughter compared to my husband and unsure if maybe his calm demeanor with more uptight parents is the reason they didn't care for him). He set my mind at ease.

He is a joke and does not deserve the title doctor. You are better off googling the test and lab results that YOU requested as a patient because he will not even bother to go the extra step and actually figure out the problem. Do every parent a favor and please retire. You are an awful doctor who lacks any knowledge and certainly have no compassion.

The worst doctor that is sadly still in business. He brushes everything off the 5 seconds he spends with your child. He is clueless, rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend anyone brings their child to him.

After being a patient for many years, my son had labs done in the office. The office by accident sent the blood work to the wrong lab, which was out of network on our plan. They admitted to the mistake. However, fast forward 2 yrs. , My son received a collection notice for labs done at the office. I called and explained the situation and felt they were responsible for the fees, in which they agreed! Apparently, after thinking about it, doc denied to take care it! Know your plan! They don’t!

Dr.McClenathan saw me only once the entire time i was being treated by him. I was seeing him about possible chrons , and the nurse practitioner, after looking at my previous colonoscopy for 5 minutes, diagnosed me with chrons. Mcclenathan gave me several risky drug options so i decided on remicade. It made me extremely sick after 3 infusions so they gave me mesalamine instead. Within 2 months of taking this i got pancreatitis and was in the hospital for 8 days. Do not see this doctor.

Suffered for years as a child being misdiagnosed by other docs. I was being treated for an ulcer and had several hospitalizations at the time. Dr. McClenathan happened to walk by my room and glanced at my chart and asked how long I had Colitis. My parents had never heard of this, and after a switch in meds, I was 100% better the next day and was able to go home. If it hadn't been for him, I don't know how long I would have been misdiagnosed. Nothing but good things to say about him!

The office staff is awesome. They have a real person answer the phone, and follow up quickly when voicemails about insurance or prescription needs are called in overnight. They have incredibly accommodating with my work schedule, and I always feel like they are really listening when we have an appointment. Docs have been great-both on an outpatient and inpatient basis.

I've never written an online review for a physician. As a mother, I feel compelled to let others know of our experience. My daughter suffers from chronic and severe GI pain due to IBS. When the school asked for documentation to support my daughter's transition back to school, he refused everything. If you want a doctor that is an advocate for your child, I recommend you look elsewhere.
