Just being honest about the last several months
I took *months* to get an appointment, even when other doctors thought I may have cancer. It takes forever to speak with his staff; you may wait 30 minutes or more and you can't just 'hold' you have to keep pressing #2 every 10 seconds to keep holding or leave a message, which may not get returned for hours or days. Office staff *definitely* did not want input about this, they were angry. There is a water bottle in his exam room that says something like 'Your Google search doesn't supersede my medical degree'. My follow-up appointment was really odd.  'What's going ON?!', he said. 'I'm just following up on my appointment.' 'Yeah - but what's going ON?!' He then insulted my 73-year-old mother *to her face*: 'Look - you can't choose your parents - and I say that as a parent.' He referred me to a surgeon due to a growth on my parathyroid who was not in my network; I asked his office which surgeon he'd recommend of the two that were in-network and he replied, 'just talk to your PCP'.  OK?

poor bedside manner
I have worked in the healthcare field for decades. Dr. Alster's bedside manner was abysmal. When asked about the pros, cons, and alternatives to a treatment he replied, 'If you want it I will give it to you.' I wonder how he treats patients who do not have a medical background.

Terrible.
Despite filling out all the medical information and stating I was on meds for ADHD, that I had two arrhythmias and a pacemaker, he did not let me know that the medication I was prescribed was contradicted with his prescription, which ended up with my having a pounding heart and scheduling Cardiology where I found I did have an arrhythmia that day. This Dr is incopadent!!!

Dr. Alster is an excellent physician. He has a very good "bedside manner" and listens very attentively while the patient describes his medical history. Dr. Alster offers his advice in an authoritative, yet friendly manner. I would highly recommend him to family, friends, and to complete strangers as well.

A recent visit to a very competent cardiologist had me discussing the links between my sporadic bouts of irregular heart beats and having hashimotos disease. He asked if I had seen an Endocrinologist. I said yes and he asked me who it was and I said I didn’t remember only that he was very rude and quite condescending. He asked if his name was Dr.Alster and yes it was !!! I consider myself an informed patient and I asked him very pointed questions about my condition of which I get very unsatisfactory answers. Quite remarkable as that experience was about 6 years ago !!! Based on the recent reviews little has changed with him. If you to want to feel belittled and inconsequential then he’s the man for you. Zero stars

Healthcare coordination is vital for patients with co-morbidities and involves primary care physicians and specialists to effectively communicate the plan of care. When the plan of care is not in alignment, physicians should ensure they communicate and identify a treatment plan which meets the needs of the patient. As a healthcare professional, I find it unacceptable Dr. Alster believes it is the patient's responsibility to try and coordinate their care between his office and the primary care office. His actions does NOT place PATIENTS FIRST. Perhaps in the future when a primary care physician's treatment plan is not in alignment with his, he can pick up the phone and discuss the plan of care with the PCP instead of expecting the patient to try and coordinate their care.

"I don't treat skin conditions, go see a dermatologist". This was the response I got the last time I spoke with Dr. Alster. He had me on too high of a dose for my weekly testosterone shot which caused me to break out in boils all over my backside. I sent him a message and then says "Idk quit taking the testosterone, I'm not a skin specialist, you'll have to see a dermatologist" I said no thank you I don't like going into withdrawl (been on testosterone for 7 years now due to pituitary gland damage), then said "you should know the side affects of your medication you prescribe and how to treat those affects" . So I took the initiative in my own treatment and lowered it .1 ml per week. The boils have sense disappeared. I won't be back, not to mention he never did give me a definitive reason on why I had low testosterone in the first place. He told me "well I guess its because of pituitary damage". Not the best answer I want to hear from a doctor.

Dr. Alster should not be practicing medicine. During my first visit, he seemed fixated on my weight ( 20 extra pounds). I told him some of my hypothyroid symptoms, including swelling in my calves (and, yes, slow metabolism and weight gain are also symptoms of hypothyroidism)..... he was too lazy to do testing and told me that having swollen calves could be perfectly normal!! News flash: swollen calves are NEVER normal!!!

It was horrible, he didn't even explain my ultrasound results with me,or anything else for that matter.spent five minutes in the room, never seemed to care how I was feeling ,or even listen to anything I had to say, this was also my second visit,I was treated the same both visits, this doctor truly doesn't care about trying to help his patients or how to get to the bottom of there problems! I have never met a more unprofessional doctor!
