Dr. David Benavides, MD

Dr. Benavides is a kind and knowledgeable specialty care provider. Despite extended office wait times, he is always thorough and present during appointments and makes sure to answer all patient questions and concerns. His time and attention to detail is necessary in order to provide high quality care to patients with complex healthcare needs. He is timely in his correspondence through the electronic patient portal. I would recommend him without hesitation.

My first visit with Dr. Benavides was in 2022 after being referred to him by another neurologist. That first neurologist suspected I had multiple sclerosis (MS) after examining me when I presented with a variety of symptoms. Dr. Benavides was a great comfort to me at a time when my health was unpredictable, and the cause was uncertain. I appreciated his approach to interacting with me as a patient and the length of time he allotted for my first and subsequent visits. I experienced him as knowledgeable, caring, and patient. At the end of each visit, I always understood what my next steps were. At each visit, he asked me what questions I had for him, and I appreciated this as a newly diagnosed MS patient. Most importantly, over the course of subsequent visits Dr. Benavides equipped me with a better understanding of multiple sclerosis, my treatment plan and how to differentiate when symptoms should be concerning and when they may be more indicative of something fleeting.

Unhelpful and condescending. For someone specializing in neurology AND psychiatry, he sure has a way of making a patient feel worse about the scary things their bodies are doing. You'd think that psychiatry training would make him a bit more compassionate... After finding care elsewhere, all I wish to do is meet this man again to show him what real doctoring can do to improve a patients quality of life.
