Thank you Dr. Harter for everything you have done for me since my first visit in 2011, back surgeries until now! I never realized how much of a risk my surgeries were and I am so grateful you operated on me to give me so much back. I know I was a hassle at times but you had so much patience (Maggie too :p). Any time a doctor brings up surgery for something orthopedic on me, my family is like why can't Dr. Harter do it?! Haha.

Dr Harter has been my son's neuro surgeon for over 10 years. Originally my son had another Neuro at NYU that could not correct his shunt problems because my son has slit ventricles. They attempted many shunt revisions. The shunt would be ok for a little while then it would fail. Dr Harter was new to the NYU team at a time when the doctor's kept operating on my son but this time couldn't get the shunt to work properly. So we put our trust in Dr Harter & thank God we did!! Before Harter entered the picture my son had about 28 shunt surgeries because it just kept failing or getting infected. But since Dr Harter's last surgery over 10 years ago my son has not needed any shunt revisions. This guy is a God to me. Thank you Dr Harter, God has given you a gift to help kid's lives and we are blessed to have you. I just wish we met you when my son was born ??

Dr. Harter is an excellent neurosurgeon. My daughter was suffering from migraines for a couple of months this summer. Went to emergency room in Staten Island and they found a tumor on her brain. We were transferred to NYU in the city where we first met Dr. Hill. The care my daughter received at that point was stellar. Dr. Harter, Dr. Hill and Ruth Gonzalez visited us every day answered all our questions before and after surgery and really care about their patients. I could not have asked for a better outcome for my daughter. Thank you so much for saving her life.

First, I would like to state that there are no words to effectively express my gratitude and admiration for Dr David H. Harter and his entire staff. Dr Harter has unending patience and compassion for my daughter and our family. He answered all my questions and concerns pre surgery, promptly returned phone calls and made himself available before, during and after the surgery. Dr Harter promised to take care of all of us during my daughter’s treatment and he and his staff delivered completely. The treatment we received was stellar… from scheduling appointments in the office with Maggie, to pre- surgery preparation with Ruth, the surgery, hospital stay and follow up in the weeks following. Dr. Harter and his staff set the highest standards for medical care.

Thankful for Doctor Harter for removing my brain tumor. The surgery was a success. As soon as I met him I felt extremely comfortable and knew I was in good hands. He visited every day in the ICY following surgery and his staff is incredible as well. Overall amazing surgeon and person.

Dr harter removed a dermoid tumor from my sons head in 2013. He made us feel comfortable in his hands from day 1. He was extremely knowledgable, kind, and compassionate. He really makes you feel calm and collected when going through a rough time. I highly recommend him for anyone seeking a wonderful neurosurgeon

I am forever grateful to Dr. Harter and his team who saved my husband’s life by removing colloid cyst after complication from another surgeon's failed try. My gratitude to Dr. Harter and his team are beyond words. Dr. Harter is knowledgeable, professional, understanding, and personable. His calmness and positivity gave me great strength in the past two months. He is not one of those competent but ill-tempered *ss. He is a kind-hearted good man. We were very very fortunate to be in the best hands

I am writing to let everyone know how disappointed and heartbroken we were with Dr. Harter' s care. His office is disorganized and frankly doesn't seem like they care about patients in the least. We cancelled our son's surgery with Dr. Harter because I don't think that my son would receive good post operative care. They couldn't get their act together to send me pre-op information. I had to call time after time to get any type of information without any luck. I'm not impressed with Dr. Ha

Dr. Harter performed a risky surgery by performing a subtotal resection of a JPA tumor growing out of my 12 year old daughter's brainstem. He managed to get out more tumor than anticipated and caused her no neurological deficits. I didn't trust any other doctor but him and I got many opinions. There were many doctors that deemed her tumor inoperable because of its location. He spent a lot of time answering all our questions and was very honest about possible outcomes. His hands are blessed!

I am utterly thankful and blessed to have had brain surgery completed by Dr. Harter. I was very recently diagnosed with ganglioglioma in the right temperal lobe of the brain. Dr. Harter had been completely helpful and has considerably spent a lot of time with my parents and I before my surgery procedures to make certain that we understood the circumstances. He is incredibly kind and never gives you the feeling that he is just your surgeon, but also a friend who is willing to hear your opinions.

would not even see my son because his avm was on his foot. then sent us to nyu referral nurse line who referred us back to the same group. How can you call this compassion care, when my son is in pain everyday and doctors who refuse to help a child.
