Dr. David Hughes, DPM

I travelled from the Rio Grande Valley to have surgery with Dr. David Hughes. I couldn’t have been in better hands. From the initial consultation, Dr. Hughes took the time to explain the surgical procedure, and he addressed all of my concerns. I left his office feeling more confident of going through with the surgery. The day of the surgery Dr. Hughes explained the procedure again, and he addressed my concerns about my history of having nausea with anesthesia and pain medication. My surgery went smoothly, and I was able to come back to the valley the same day, with my foot elevated. I have followed Dr. Hughes instructions for recovery, and I have minimal pain, no swelling, and no blood on the bandage. The day after surgery, Dr. Hughes texted me and his nurse called me to check on my recovery. He sent me home with a boot, a shower bag, and a walker. Dr. Hughes is an excellent surgeon, and I am so pleased that he was the one who preformed my surgery. I highly recommend him.

Dr Hughes prepared me on what to expect for my bunion removal surgery and it’s gone exactly as promised. The surgery process was smooth and went well. I was sent home with the items needed for immediate relief and the post-op care has progressed well.

Dr. Hughes was very polite. He let me explain my concerns to him in detail. I was able to get an appt. on short notice. He explained to me what the issue was with my left toenail, which helped to put me at ease. He prescribed some Antibiotics for me to take to clear up the infection. I’m very happy and thankful for the Great care Dr. Hughes provided me.

I was greeted by friendly staff and provided insurance information without problem. I was directed to the waiting area and soon a nurse came to lead me to the exam room. She was very cordial and listened to me and explained what to expect. She then said the podiatrist would come soon. Dr. Hughes came promptly. The nurse had provided him with information we had discussed. He was very professional, caring and carried on in a pleasant conversation separate from medical issues. He had given procedure facts and I, being nervous, was made to feel calm. He continued to provide expectations for the procedure he had completed. In all, I was there about 30 minutes and am very satisfied with the prompt and professional care by all individuals.

I was so pleased to meet Dr. Huges today. For several months I’ve had a problem with my big toe being swollen, hot and painful. I saw another Podiatrist and he removed the nail. Long story short; over a month later I still had the same pain and swelling. Dr. Huges was so very kind, and listed to what I said and was truly concerned. We agreed to him doing some more investigation of the toe. Thankfully he found a rather large piece of nail the other doctor had left behind. I know this would have turned into another infection. I was so impressed with Dr Huges. I highly recommend him and doubt you could find anyone more kind, caring, invested in the patient and skilled. Thank you Dr Huges for the wonderful care!

Dr. Hughes did a great job with my bunion surgery! He’s easy to talk to and answered any questions or concerns I had. I have met with him at all three facilities and was impressed with how friendly and helpful the staff was at each. It is obvious that they all strive for excellent service and outcomes. Highly recommend!

Dr. Hughes was very nice and listened to my concerns during the appointment. I never felt rushed while we spoke. He explained his findings thoroughly and offered suggestions on how to help. Would recommend to anyone.

This doctor removed ingrown toenails on both sides of both big toes. I tolerated toenail pain since my teen years. I finally decided to get them treated at the age of 61. What a game-changer! It took a couple of months to heal, and one was deep, but I have confidence this will last.

Was early and met the doctor and his assistant I was warmly received. Very down to earth. The procedure was quick and l left feeling l had made a good choice.

My Morton's Neuroma surgery went without any issues. A day and a half after the surgery, there is absolutely no pain.

I had a visit and had in-grown toenail issue. The staff was very professional. When meeting Dr. Hughes he was very attentive, caring and his work was phenomenal. The procedure went great and quick. I am very pleased and happy to be feeling much better now.

I have been seeing Dr. Hughes, and his wife, Dr. Rutstein, for several years, well before they joined TSAOG. Dr. Hughes completed an ingrown toenail removal several years ago and recently, some related care. He is very gentle, personable, makes you feel comfortable, and you never feel rushed. I highly recommend Dr. Hughes and Dr. Rutstein for podiatry care!

Dr Hughes was kind and took time to explain everything for an up coming surgery. He wasn't in a hurry and answered all my questions. He made me feel comfortable about the surgery.
