Dr. David Mahoney, MD

When I arrived, I was told I had been switched to another doctor. I asked why and was puzzled by the response — still don’t understand it. I was given new patient paper work and sat in the waiting room to complete it. I was put in an exam room at 10:20 (the time of my appointment was 10:30. I had arrived 30 minutes early to complete the new patient paperwork.) The nurse who moved me back was extremely gracious and polite. We spent a few minutes going over the paperwork. She then left me and said the doctor would be in in a few minutes. I had expected that as I know and accept this routine. However at 11:25 he still hadn’t come in. I was frustrated and got up to leave. Walking out I told a receptionist that I wouldn’t wait any longer and that I was going to find another doctor (which I have done successfully). I will NEVER recommend your clinic. Terrible way to treat patients. At a minimum someone could have come in to say they were sorry but the doctor had gotten tied up

I was an 8yr patient of the former Attending Physician at LGFP. She left suddenly. I scheduled an appt to meet another physician in this Residency practice, until I could decide how to proceeed in establishing myself with another PCP. Coincidentally, a little over 48 hours before this appointment, I had a fall where I hit my head and lost consciousness. This resulted in a concussion(& a massive headache), & extreme rib pain from hitting the cement. I didn’t break a rib, but I did dislocate one-That pain was unrelenting-It felt like I was being stabbed in my back, & increased as I inspired. I requested appropriate pain management for my ACUTE situation and was told that it was “not indicated” and that I could get a referral to a pain management clinic, “but that will take you awhile to be seen.” Had my regular physician been available, she would’ve listened to me, and treated me with appropriate Standard of Care. Dr Mahoney totally lacked empathy, & showed the Resident HOW TO NOT CARE

I recently happened to read a review from "Jackie" dated May 30, 2018 and feel compelled to respond despite the time lapse. Dr Mahoney had been my physician for several years in Virginia before he left to practice in South Carolina. He is an incredibly passionate, humble, and truly knowledgeable physician who always placed my well being at the forefront. He never hesitated to say "I don't now, but let me research your question and I will get back to you." I often reminded him what my father always told me growing up: "kindness is often mistaken for weakness." It appears this "Jackie" character presumed Dr Mahoney was weak because he was too kind to her. I refuse to believe he treated her poorly in any way. And as of this comment, he has been practicing medicine for over 14 years, which hardly makes him "young"! (Sorry, Dr Mahoney, if you ever read this). Shame on "Jackie"!

I've known Dr. Mahoney since he was a teenager.He's a very caring person and a great doctor.

Best doctor I have EVER had in my life and I am 50 years old. He is caring, compassionate, and considerate. He works with his patients rather than talking down to his patients. He doesn't have the "I am smarter than you, so just do what I say" attitude most doctors have. He tries alternative therapies, when nothing else has worked. Other doctors just prescribe meds and want you in and out quickly. Dr. Mahoney actually takes his time to know you as a person and spends time listening to your problems. He thinks outside the box. He really, really cares about each and every person.

Dr. Mahoney was great. would hope to see him again when and if I have to visit this facility.

Waited over 45 minutes to be spoken to like a 3 year old. He is a very young Dr. and contradicted several things my other doctors have told me for years. I guess they just need a drivers license to get a medical license these days! Save your time and money!

I am so delighted to have Dr Mahoney as my doctor. He takes his time with me to listen and to understand me. He has helped me to manage pain, and he really care. He is knowledgable , caring and very talented. I have recommended him to many of my friends and will continue to do so!

I am beyond grateful to have found Dr. Mahoney. He is the first doctor to really listen to me and work with me on the right medications and treatment plans, after finding the root of my health issues that other doctors could not diagnose. He takes an interest in ME and treats ME and I trust him . His staff is also friendly and helpful. Finally, a doctor that gets what real patient care is all about! I highly recommend Dr. Mahoney!!

Dr. Mahoney is everything you'd wish for in a PCP. Intelligent, medically current, caring and personable. I am grateful to have found him. His staff also provides a positive experience. It is truly refreshing to experience such a positive experience in modern day medicine. I wish him a long, successful medical career (particularly in the Charleston area.)

I was looking for a good family doctor. I am very happy that I went to Dr. Mahoney. He and his office staff were very easy to deal with and made my visit to the doctor a pleasant surprise. Has has a great beside manner. He sat and discussed all of my concerns and addressed each one to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is need of a knowledgeable and caring doctor.

I love me some Dr. Mahoney. He's down to earth and my quirky sense of humor does not phase him lol. I feel well taken care of which of course is paramount. Highly recomend

After researching many different doctors around Charleston online and asking for recommendations from friends, I'm so glad I decided on Dr. Mahoney. It was like having a casual conversation with a close friend. He does not talk down to you or pretend to be smarter than you. He did not rush at all. It was quite the opposite, in fact; he took the time to make sure I understood every aspect of the situation/diagnosis, and various treatment options. He is very smart and attentive.
