I highly recommend Dr. Newton. Dr. Newton performed a procedure/cauterization on both sides of my heart [right and left atrium] to get me back in sinus rhythm. No complications, two hour procedure and general anesthesia required.

Terrible Appointment
I waited two hours to be seen. Dr, Newton came in and was very flippant about my condition. He was tired and yawned through the entire appointment. He had not reviewed my chart, wasn't sure what was going on . It seemed my condition was not severe enough for his attention. I had to ask what we needed to do next, what is the plan. He spent 15 minutes with me and rushed me on out. Scheduled another appointment for me to wear a heart monitor again and follow up. I asked to come off heart medicine. I basically am doing my own heart care plan. But I'm sure Ill be paying a small fortune for the 15 minute appointment that was non productive! I was referred to Dr. Newton by my cardiologist from Statesboro. And I have informed by doctor not to refer others to Dr. Newton!

Good Doctor, friendly staff, but long wait time
he Wait time was awful!! Although the Dr and Staff are very friendly- There were at least 14-17 people in the waiting room between the time I arrived: 8:45- waiting for over 2 hours 10 minutes.  It seemed that 3 to 4 patients each were scheduled for 9AM, three more for 9:15 and so on.    At 10:00 AM (or before,) more and more patients piled in - (this is for one Doctor folks!!)  Who does the scheduling?   I do think several people panicked that they were not getting out of there until afternoon! I hope they turn this around for next time!  I'll wait an extra month or two just to get the 8AM appt next time!!  I do like the Doctor- seems to really be good at what he does- (and the staff was very friendly)- but come on...over two hours and my name wasn't even called yet?

Poor
Dr Newtons front office is a disaster. Which ever number you call you can only get voice mail and you get put on hold for at 20 - 25 mins. If you get lucky and have an appointment you have to sit in the waiting room at least an hour sometimes 90mins. I had a cardiac ablation done a year ago and was suppose to have a follow up after 6 months. The appointment I had involved the long wait in the waiting room and I didn’t get to see him. His skills as a physician are very good but at the age of 89 every hour I waste in a waiting room is lost to my life and very precious to me. I don’t hold out much hope of getting to see him before I get my wooden overcoat.

I went to Dr Newton for a consultation about an afib ablation. I felt he answered all my questions knowledably. He despite his young age also appears to have plenty of experience with the procedure and a lot of his training comes from one of the best, the Cleveland Clinic

I was referred to Dr. Newton by my Cardiologist Dr. Mark Jenkins. I have been with Dr. Jenkins for 21 years, so I trust him completely. I was very pleased with my visit with Dr. Newton. He answered all of my questions, and explained in detail the procedure that I was seeing him about. He was in no hurry. I am confident that he has my best interest at heart, and that I will be in good hands while under his care.

Dr. Newton may be a very qualified electrophysiologist but he sure doesn't listen to his patients. Nor does he ensure appointments are kept. I'm moving to another cardiologist practice in Savannah as a result of two missed appointments and a cavalier and dismissive attitude in discussing my treatment options. Ended up finding a great EP at Duke and driving five hours.
