Dr. David Simper, MD

My first time consultation with Dr. David Simper, M.D. was well beyond my expectations, even for the renowned nationwide Mayo Clinics, for which I have been seen annually for over 15 years. He is truly exceptional and knowledgeable professional. He is very detailed orientated, concerned with accuracy, yet used nonmedical terminology so that as even a nonmedical layman I could readily understand the complexities of my condition. He provided various visual aids to help illustrate what was going on with my heart circulation. He was well prepared and completely familiar with my historical medical records. Carefully taking time to make sure I became educated he provided me with treatment options and associated benefits and risks.He stays current with new medical advancements and treatments.Overall, it was quite obvious he has a comprehensive understanding of many areas of internal medicine and importantly their relationships.

Dr Simper saw me in October, 2024 at Mayo in Scottsdale. He is gifted in his ability to listen, discern, synthesize meaning, and apply medical advice into a single package of care. I was blown away by his attention to detail and drive to understand the entire picture of health, not just the narrow cardio case that I presented at the moment, and as so many other providers normally do--which is to approach a single issue, with a myopic view on the disease, ignoring the macro view--the patient, and all the factors that might contribute to the disease. Most providers ask a couple questions, listen for a bit, and rush you through your answers. Dr Simper gives the opposite impression. He was inquisitive and valued the input I provided. What he provided in return was accurate and insightful and showed that he was an active listener but also a critical thinker and problem solver. During a recent admit a cardiology consult was ordered due to ongoing cardiac issues presently being monitored. Dr Simper was the cardiologist covering that day. He was not familiar with my situation so I took the time to explain it to him. He attempted to repeat the information several times Each time inaccurately requiring me to correct him. It was obvious he was not present and listening in the moment At the end of the conversation we agreed best plan was for me to follow up w the providers who are familiar with my case as outpatient. However it was well known to him my admit was for a non cardiac reason yet my cardiac status deteriorated to needing to be sent home with supplemental oxygen. This should have raised a red flag and warranted Dr Simper meeting his minimal responsibility to me as a patient by communicating updates to my primary cardiology providers which he did not do. His mannerism was dismissive and his coming to my bedside was a waste of time.

Dr. Simper is very thorough and thoughtful. He put my mind at ease. It was an informative appointment. I am extremely happy that I was able to meet with him today.

Dr Simper patiently listened to my husband's concerns, thoroughly explained what is happening from a medical perspective and put a plan in place to assess, treat and monitor his ongoing cardiac issues. Dr Simper greatly reduced our anxiety with his kindness and compassion. We appreciate and have the utmost confidence in Dr. Simper.

Dr.Simper, showed as much concerns out me as I would show to a beloved family member. He stayed with me just the two of us for over an hour going through my medical history step by step. I was very impressed. He was a person you would wish your doctor to be!! Wonderful!!!

Dr. Simper made time in his full schedule to accommodate me and for this, I am very appreciative. Prior to the appointment, he was very responsive and thorough in his communication with me through the Mayo portal. He was patient during our appointment and he did not rush at all. His staff and follow up is great too.

My cardiologist Dr. Simper is honest, kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and thorough. He was instrumental in helping me have my aortic valve replaced recently, and I will be forever grateful. I am so very fortunate to be under his care, and I know he will be supportive, forward thinking, and professional. He possesses the ability to involve me in my own care so that I can be aware of my health and look toward the future. It is so great to know I have a doctor who listens and cares.

Dr. Simper ensured that my medical needs were met, either by himself or one of his colleagues. He went above and beyond, speaking to me directly when need be, and made sure my care did not fall to the wayside. Mayo is special because of people like Dr. Simper who genuinely care about the patients and their outcomes.

My first visit was today with this doctor and I can honestly say I was thoroughly impressed with his "chairside" manner, knowledge, compassion, and sensitivity! I have never had a physician sit with me, for over 45 minutes, and go through my medical history thoroughly and make me feel like I was being heard and my well being was important to him! I am immensely happy with my decision to go to Dr. Simper! I am grateful to him for giving me this experience!!!

Dr. Simper took his time with me at my appointment and I felt like he understood my complaints. He was very thorough in asking me questions about my health. I don't live in Phoenix and he made it possible for me to schedule some tests so that I would not have to make another trip to Phoenix. I highly recommend Dr. Simper.

Great Doctor Great Experience

Dr Simper takes the time to listen to all of your questions. He is personable and obviously very knowledgeable. He seems to take a personal interest in you. I was so impressed by him that I recommend him to my sisters and he saw both of them and they share my sentiments. Dr Simper is an outstanding physician and person!

Dr. Simper is an extremely thorough, caring physician. During my recent visit, he thoroughly reviewed my history, records, recent test results, and conducted a line of questioning to identify what may be causing my recent issues. After I left the appointment, he continued to research and consult with another physician. His communication was excellent and continued to research. On a Friday afternoon, he rushed to get a diagnostics test quickly scheduled for that evening. After the tests, he further researched with other physicians and contacted me during his evening to provide feedback. He provides exceptional care and strongly recommend him to other patients.

Dr. Simper was on time and spent over and hour and ten minutes explaining to me my existing conditions and the tests necessary to get a clearer picture of my health. I appreciated Dr. Simper's interest on providing a complete Picture of my Health and what the tests would clarify.

I have been a patient of Dr. Simper for many years and have never met anyone who has more compassion and concern for his patients. He takes his time to answer your questions and explain what his happening with your heart. Dr. Simper explains the test that he has ordered and what he recommends to keep you healthy. I have complete trust in Dr. Simper and would recommend him to anyone who needs to see a cardiologist.

Dr. Simper was really great and helpful. His examination was very thorough and he walked me through every step asking great questions and doing a very comprehensive workup. The best cardiology visit I'd ever had.

This doctor is condescending and he really isn't sure of his own plan on care for and questions it repeatedly. His steps in care management are somewhat questinable.
