Possibly Worst Provider In Fairbanks
If you want the worst cardiologist in Fairbanks, this is it! I was initially referred to his office and went there for 6+ years. For the first several years, I thought they just had poor office staff. Follow ups would never be scheduled, no effort was placed into patient management. After a few years, I eventually learned that it was time for my (unscheduled) annual follow up when they simply denied my prescriptions to the pharmacist.I never had any issues with the doctors until I actually saw Dr. Steiber. I was a stable hypertension patient and had been for years. For some reason he went cowboy on me and changed my meds to one that (I learned later) hasn't been recommended for at least 15 years. Well, I had a severe adverse reaction that put me in the ER and could NOT get help from them. 'We can see you in 4 weeks!' The ER nurse taught me that I can fire a doctor. So I did just that. This guy needs to pick up a book printed after 2000 and also do some re-training.
What went well
  • Appointment wasn't rushed
  • Wait times
What could be improved
  • I didn't feel respected
  • Difficult to schedule appointment
  • Didn't explain conditions well
  • Staff wasn't friendly
  • Didn't trust the provider's decisions

Terrible customer service
Had an appointment with Dr. Stieber’s office however I needed to renew my referral. They contacted me about it and I took care of the referral immediately. I tried contacting Dr. Stiebers office on the 7th of June at 9:20 a.m. I did not receive a call back that day. I have been told in the past that they have 24 hours to return a patient’s call. Today, June 14th, one week later I tried calling again at 8:07 a.m. and left another message. At 1:08 p.m. I was called back. I stated my frustrations with the individual on the phone and I was told my call on the 7th was not received. I continued to state my frustrations with the individual and he became argumentative. After not receiving a call back from Dr. Stieber’s office for over a week and past problems with billing that I had to continually solve for them I contacted my referral service to see a different cardiologist. I do not recommend this office to anyone. I do not agree with the policy of having to wait up to 24 hrs for a call.
