Dr. Wilber is the best in his field. He performed bilateral ablations 6 years ago and I have not had atrial or a-fib since. I am followed by Dr. Vasaiwala after insertion of a loop monitor that monitors my heart on a on-going (24 hour) basis to ensure I don't go back into a-fib. I have had great care by both of these physicians. Dr. Wilber did indicate not being obese really helped these procedures succeed. They have saved my life and monitor me closely. Top physicians.

If you are overweight and have afib, forget about this doctor. I drove for 2hours to get information about cardiac ablation. In a not-so-subtly condescending manner, he informed me that I would not be a candidate due to poor results in the obese. I have reviewed literature and ,yes, it is less successful in obese patients but there are those who achieve success and benefit. I was not able to ask the question about what ablation procedure would entail if I lost weight. He saw me briefly and told me my BP was high, which was not accurate when rechecked with internist. He seemed to have a disdainful attitude towards me as a whole except not when I later received his bill. I guess an obese person’s money is good. I will get another opinion at another institution and leave the perfect patients for Mr/Dr Wilber (the term “Doctor” comes from Latin, “to teach”, none of that happened).

Dr. Wilbur performed a catheter ablation procedure on me to treat my ventricular tachycardia. He was able to find and fix the problem area, with a nearly 4 hour heart mapping period before hand. Because they needed my heart in an awake, alert rhythm (not one when I’m entirely sedated) I was partially awake for the surgery. I was able to hear the medical staff and dr. Wilbur at points, and I felt that he guided the process in a commanding and intelligent way, listening to observations and thinking before making decisions. It was in a way more reassuring than being knocked out and not knowing how the medical staff are acting. Everything was very well conducted and the environment was professional. My skip rate (6 months after healing, 4 months on Metoprolol) is now down to .01% and I feel much healthier. I had 3 failed ablations 7&5 years ago at a pediatric hospital, and this procedure was much better.

Dr. Wilber performed the Lariat procedure to close my Left Atrial Appendage and also an Ablation as part of a nationwide Clinical Trial of which he is co-chair. He was always very personable, and took the time to answer any questions. His staff is also top notch! The procedures were done over a year ago and my heart has remained in normal sinus rhythm and I have been able to stop taking blood thinners. Highest recommendations possible!

Dr. Wilber performed a cardiac ablation to stop my atrial fibrillation. Three years later I've not had any episodes. He was attentive, reassuring and confident. He was recommended to me from a cardiologist in Ann Arbor who polled his colleagues as to who in Chicago I should have the procedure done with. Dr. Wilber was everyones choice.

Refused to see me. My case wasn't "interesting enough" to warrant his attention. I was later diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis at the Cleveland Clinic.

As he is an instructor he actually spent very little time with me. 90% of the time I was dealing with students so this is one important item to be aware of.
