Dr. Deborah Whiteside, MD

These women leaving five star reviews must be related to Dr Whiteside, because for the 15+ years of my sporadic experiences with her, I have left in tears more often than not. I know what you’re thinking - why’d you stay with her so long? When you see someone for the first time at 15, it becomes easier to stick with it and see her every few years vs finding someone new, plus - upmc completely sucks and you often have to take the first appointment available even if the dr is a dismissive, rude human. The last experience was the absolute worst.I ended up going back in and making my concerns around her lack of empathy and condescending tone known to the head nurse, who said I wasn’t the first to complain. was not at all surprised to receive a letter a few months later that she is no longer employed by the organization (other patients I’ve shared experiences with as well as other doctors within the practice have actually confirmed that she was forced into early retirement). Dr. Whiteside had no interest in my health concerns and did not apologize for causing me great pain during my pap smear. I went for an annual exam and was in the office for less than half an hour.

Dr Whiteside is very professional and friendly, understanding, she listens, she explains things very well. She has a way of speaking to you that is clear, patient, and genuine; but more than that, she listens to the point where she understands your perspective for your questions and personality so she can answer more deeply and appropriately. Her advice and solutions have been spot on; it's obvious she is up-to-date. One of the best doctors I have ever worked with. Love her, truly.

She spent time with me and listened to all my issues. She did not rush me in and out of the office. She scheduled a follow up visit for after my additional tests are complete. She was friendly and warm.

Great bedside manner, thorough in all aspects. However while inquiring about getting an IUD she gave me a bullsh*t excuse as to why my sexual history wasn't extensive enough to physically allow for an IUD. Which as someone who already cleared it with her PCP and other physicians knew that to be completely false. It was unprofessional and manipulative. She spreads misinformation and personal biases. She DEFINITELY lost a patient.
