Condescending and Egotistical
Dr. Banks is the kind of guy who thinks he is infallible and knows everything; that he knows everyone more than they know themselves. He is generally unclear when he speaks and the questions he asks are extremely convoluted and unnecessarily complicated. Additionally, he entirely lacks empathy. You could be pouring your heart out and crying, and he would stare at you analytically and continue to ask heartless questions without even stopping to try to console you in any way. This is not the kind of guy I'd recommend to anyone seriously struggling with their mental health. Dr. Banks has only added to the stress, anxiety, and sadness in my life, without helping with anything whatsoever. He also has no sense of urgency when dealing with potentially life-threatening issues. It's safe to say that I wouldn't want anyone I care about to see this man.

I reached out to Dr Banks after reviewing his exemplary credentials: degrees from Columbia, Harvard and Yale, and over 30 years of clinical experience. When I arrived at his office, I IMMEDIATELY, felt comfortable. Dr. Banks put me at ease with his innately calm and welcoming nature. I felt a great sense of peace and hope from day one. I was in the right place at the right time. We developed a rapport easily. I felt safe and supported. I trusted him. Dr. Banks listens exceedingly well - interjecting only to question, inspire and guide. Through his compassion, wit and scholarly intellectual acumen, we explored my challenges with PTSD. Within months, I experienced a radical shift from living with overwhelming fear to living with hope. I was able to understand my fears, beliefs, and choices in life and to accept these free of judgement or condemnation. I am free again to move forward in life - a priceless gift. I highly recommend Dr Banks.

If you need a psychiatrist, but don't live in Maui, you might want to consider relocating to have Dr. Banks as your doctor. I have consulted many psychiatrists over many years and none come close to Dr. Banks. His diagnostic/treatment regimes are matched by incredible kindness and rapid-fire responses to a patient's emails, texts, or phone calls -- even on weekends. The compassionate care he practices is every bit as important -- maybe even more important -- to recovery as therapy and medicines.
