Boy is this guy good!
Dr Hughes knocked himself out to help me, my husband, and my daughter and her husband. We were all sorry to see him leave Santa Barbara. He is thorough, kind, willing try things for difficult to treat issues. He has helped me with blood pressure issues, my husband with sleep issues my daughter with anxiety and general health. He was always available, willing to give extra time to listen and to treat. He would respond very promptly on my chart even after hours. When taking my blood pressure in the office, as an example, he knew it would go up in the usual circumstances. He turned down the lights, played music and helped get a more realistic reading. He goes the mile. thank you Dr. Hughes. We will miss you!!

I pay a small??fortune for health insurance I have never used other than a one time initial visit to establish a relationship with ????? Dr. Dennis Hughes, who is a nice guy. However, they never measured my blood pressure, height or weight and more recently, it took the ????? physician assistant the better part of 3 business days to get back to me, only to tell me that they’re not allowed to give me a doctors order to have my blood tested for antibodies at a ?? local lab. I’m super healthy, may be completely a-symptomatic and would like to know if I have antibodies – which may even save someone’s life, if it actually ever becomes a need in San Luis Obispo.

The worst doctor I have ever experienced. He was insulting and dismissive. I went to him hoping to find a medical practitioner who would work with me in managing my care. When I asked him about working with me as my doctor, his response was "Is that some Oprah crap? I'm the doctor, don't you think I know what is best, not you." When I arrived, he never introduced himself nor looked me the entire time, only at the computer screen. He misdiagnosed me on both the issues I came to him for. First, he said I had a frozen shoulder when I had a complete tear of my rotator cuff. He did not order an MRI but gave me a short of cortisone and sent me on my way. Second, I had a lump in my leg, which he dismissed off handedly telling me to see if it got worse. It turned out to be a malignant lymph node, requiring surgery and radiation. He didn't listen and was more interested in telling my why he disliked the Central Coast. See him at your own risk.

Dr. Hughes did a thorough examination and updated my records. He considered and provided guidance on my lifestyle for health. Also, he spent the time required for medication management. One word, excellent!

When Dr Hughes became by PCP several years ago, he immediately identified medications prescribed by my previous PCP has contributing to my frequent episodes of gout rather than reducing flare ups. His care and attention since has been nothing by exemplary. Unfortunately he has left the local area so I will miss him greatly but would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

After many years with the same doctor, I was a bit nervous about seeing a new doctor but Dr. Hughes was great. I can highly recommend him and I appreciated his attention to what I had to say.

Dr Hughes is a fine doctor until there's a problem. The doctor doesn't take e-mails, or phone calls, so when I had a billing problem based on information that came directly from Dr Hughes, after 6 months of calls to the office and the billing center my calls were no longer returned. In fact when I called for an appointment willing to pay just to talk to the doctor face to face I still couldn't get a return phone call. I can't recommend a doctor that refuses to communicate when there's a problem
