Dr. Derick Johnson, DO

Went for consultation. Was told he would not do the hip replacement. Was advised that staff would proceed with referral and help facilitate appointment with other surgeron. Staff never followed up. Called back to the office for the referral. Staff refused to provide a referral. Was told to go back to our Primary Care physician. Why bother seeing the patient if you are not going to help? Yet - you had no problem billing our insurance company.

Dr Johnson combines elite surgery skills, utilizing the latest technology with a high level of care. Also works in the best ortho hospital in MI. Highly recommend Dr Johnson and his team.

I have had RA for over 30 years and OA in both knees quite bad. Previous consults indicated bone on bone and surgery would be needed. I saw an internet ad for Dr. Johnson and I am so glad I made the call! Dr. Johnson and staff were incredibly efficient and organized. I appreciated that he reviewed my history before our consult. He was honest and forthright. He answered all of my questions. I felt like we were on the same page and I was I was confident about my decision to wait on surgery for now. He provided options for treatment and his team had already checked my insurance for coverage. I had both knees injected by the PA and whatever cocktail of steroids was used, it was a game changer. I have had my knees injected multiple times. He and his team have clearly mastered this process. I have never had fewer side effects after an injection and I have more mobility now than I have had in well over a year. I plan to continue with Dr. Johnson and his team. What a great experience!

Dr. Derick Johnson is amazing. Outcome of surgery was better than I could have ever imagined. Walking without hip pain the day after surgery. It is amazing. minor muscle soreness was about it..Highly recommend Dr. Johnson and his staff. They have been great!

Dr D Johnson is an excellent, skilled surgeon. He is most knowledgeable in his area of expertise and up-to-date with current interventions. Pain management was wholistic and not having narcotics as its foundation. I am very grateful to have my mobility back and look forward to again have a summer full of hiking, kayaking and bird watching.

He did my second knee with excellent results. Limited pain and movement came back quickly. I was out walking the dog and raking leaves in three weeks. I would highly recommend Dr Johnson and his great team at the Bone & Joint Center.

Right hip 2015. Left hip 2020. Absolutely the best care and professional staff; both Holland Hospital and his office. Referred several other hip & knee suffers. All feedback was positive.

Starting in 2016 I began to deal with increasing pain in my left hip which was diagnosed as hip dysplasia. A friend recommended Dr. Johnson who performed the joint replacement April 2019 and the result was simply amazing! No more pain to do even simple tasks such as putting my socks on! However, working as a masonry contractor and having to lift often heavy materials, I had shifted much of that effort to my right leg prior to surgery. Back in 1996, while skiing, my ACL was torn and then surgically repaired. All that compensating to my right leg basically destroyed my knee. In the fall of 2019 Dr. Johnson and his incredible team replaced the knee joint. The recovery took much longer than the hip procedure BUT I am so blessed and thankful that I had it done! Now I am able to be vastly more productive in my business, have more energy, sleep well and also re-discovered my love for cycling. I enjoy riding about every other day 10-20 miles and feel great! Holland hospital staff was superb!

I had right hip joint replacement! Before surgery I was in agony with osteoarthritis pain. The hip pain was gone when the nurses got me up the afternoon of surgery. I was ecstatic! The only pain was bearable soreness at surgery site. I feel like I have a new lease on life! I chose Dr. Johnson because of referrals from numerous acquaintances. I would grade the Bone and Join Center, Holland, MI, Holland Hospital, and Dr. Johnson A+.

Derick Johnson is an excellent surgeon using state-of-the-art surgical procedures and technology. This has one downside; longer than usual queues for his services. This, though, allowed for more psychological and physical preparation for the surgery, which resulted in much shorter post-operative recovery and at-home rehabilitation. The only pain I've ever felt post-op has come from post-recovery overuse as a result of my impatience. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr Johnson, his personal staff, and the staff at Holland Hospital to anyone needing this operation.

Have had both of my hips replaced by Dr. Johnson. This is the most efficiently run office I have ever been involved with. My surgeries were uneventful and my recovery complete. I was amazed that I could walk the same day of surgery with only moderate surgical pain, the arthritic pain gone immediately. Very quick recovery time, within 6 weeks of each surgery I was able to resume my normal activity pain free. Highly recommend Dr. Johnson if you are in need of hip replacement surgery. Wonderful office staff and can't say enough about my one day of care at Holland Hospital as well.

My wife and I have experienced nothing less than excellent wonderful compassionate and expert care from Dr. Johnson and his staff. We are now more active and thoroughly enjoying being grandparents because of our hip and knee surgeries.

Had a horrible experience with Dr. Johnson's Office due to the time lag in payments. I had over lapping payments from my first and second visit. Even though they hadn't received payment for one installment from payment plan via Holland Hospital they gave me my second shot and never told me about the payment in person or by a phone call. I got a "Dear John letter" in the mail that the "trust was broken" Even though I had paid the second visit 100 percent. I suffer from depression due to a family member so I can't always keep up with mail. Office manager was very rude when I spoke with her! Also spoke to Holland Hospital Public Relations with no help from advocate. It it is my belief that they are all about the money. I was very emotionally upset for along time about this. I'm a nurse and they don't care about the person as a whole. Didn't care about my emotional well fair. They also sent their "Dear John" letter so I got it on Friday upset all weekend. No money, no care.

After 2 1/2 years of physical therapy, steroid shots that did little to nothing and a Spectrum Health Dr. who claimed my X-rays show no arthritis. I found Dr. Johnson through a referral. First visit he examined me took x-rays and determined significant arthritis in my left hip. He is so sought after it took from January to July to get the surgery scheduled but I was walking pain free same day. I am not quite 2 weeks post op and getting around like new. Some muscle discomfort from the surgery but a low 2 on any pain scale I ever had. Can’t say enough good about Dr. Johnson and his staff. My wife and I had a great experience with Dr. Johnson and his staff. They answered all of our questions in person, on the phone and electronically. After six weeks my hip feels great and my walking, sleeping and ease of movement has improved so much.

Dr Johnson's work is incredible. I have had both hips replaced & I am without hip pain for the 1st time in many, many years. I am 61 & his work made walking, biking & being active an enjoyable part of my life again. The pain afterwards is very bad, but well worth the result. All of the staff is great. They take care of everything to make the process of a hip replacement smooth from beginning to end. Dr. Johnson does a job second to none. I was walking and moving better than before surgery in 2 weeks and am feeling better everyday. I could tell the joint pain was gone in a matter of days.

Exceeded my expectations. Great results on a total knee replacement. If I had known how well it would go I would have done it a long time ago. Excellent care fro Dr. Johnson and the entire team. All are top notch!

I had total knee replacement done on Feb. 5 2019 by Dr. Johnson. I have been totally impressed with Dr. Johnson, and his staff. My recovery has been nothing short of amazing. Within 2 weeks I had full range of motion, and was walking without a walking aid. By the 4th week I have completed my physical therapy. Throughout the entire time I have only experienced minimal pain. After the first two weeks was able to switch over to over the counter medication to control any pain I did experience.
