Dr. Devang Desai, MD

I just quit my primary care doctor. Her staff was unfriendly, sometimes rude in word and behavior, and genuinely unfriendly. The doctor wasn’t much better. I got to where I really didn’t want to go there. That’s not right! A few days later, I went to my cardiologist, Dr. Devang Desai, for an annual visit and experienced what I always did there. The staff is ALWAYS kind and works to treat patients like personal friends. They’re thorough, efficient, and supportive of getting any questions asked answered. I attribute this to the friendly tone and personal standards of care Dr. Desai sets for himself and his staff. They’re a great bunch! 5 Stars all around!

Dr. Desai and his office are outstanding. They are very responsive and caring, Dr. Desai is incredibly empathetic and truly cares about his patients. I had the Watchman procedure done and it was completed quickly without any complications. I was worried about getting the procedure done but Dr. Desai went over everything with me and my family thoroughly and put my mind at ease. I’m very happy with the treatment I received and I am so glad I decided to get the Watchman. Highly recommend Dr. Desai and his staff to everyone!

Dr. Desai is an excellent cardiologist. He is very personal, shares his knowledge with you and answers any and all questions. What I like best is that he is NOT a text book doctor. He discusses options and makes a joint decision with you about any treatments and/or next steps.

My visit with Dr. Desai was incredible. He listened and answered my questions, and he worked with me to address my concerns. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable in his field, but his genuine kindness, warmth and concern convinced me that I am in great hands. I highly recommend Dr. Desai to anyone in need of cardiac care.

Both my husband and me completely trust Dr. Desai. We value hs attention to our care over the past several years. He has ben very proactive in helping us be responsible for our health.

Office setup allowed for online appointment confirmation so I could see Dr. Desai quickly upon arrival. Staff were courteous and efficient as well. Dr. Desai took his time and did a thorough examination/work-up. He took additional time as well to check how I was doing life wise and see how possible stressors could be impacting my health. He made sure he answered all my questions. He then established a post examination routine for best preventive cardiac measures/health. I cannot recommend Dr. Desai enough to others.

Dr. Desai is THE most knowledgeable, kind and supportive physician who has ever treated me. When I was diagnosed as having aortic stenosis, I researched who would be the best to treat me in the Reno/Tahoe area and by far Dr. Desai was rated the best for treating valve disease. I made an appointment to see him. He ordered tests to find out the severity of my aortic disease. Dr. Desai recommended, I return for another echo cardiogram in a year to evaluate my valve disease progression. In January, after the echocardiogram, he recommended I have a valve replacement. He ordered more tests to evaluate if I was a candidate for the less invasive valve replacement procedure and I qualified for the less invasive or TAVR procedure. On February 21, 2022, he replaced my aortic valve. My procedure took less than an hour. I was able to walk, eat, and talk the same morning after the procedure and was discharged from the hospital the next day and by the end of the week I was walking my usual 3 miles.

I have been a patient of Dr. Devang Desai for approximately 10-years. He is the most caring and compassionate physician in his field here in the Reno, NV area. He always places you at ease and never, never rushes you through an appointment. He always converses in terms that the patient understands. He speaks in complimentary terns regarding his associate Cardiologist. No other Cardiologist for me!

Dr. Desai provided excellent personal care in pre-proccedure explanations which comforted me greatly. His explainations of all potental outcomes were understandable to the point where I had confidence that the choices to be made would be compatable with my best interest. Everything went smoothly and my care was highly professional.

Dr Desai treated my 82 year old husband when he suffered a massive Inferior Myocardial Infarction that presented with 100% blockage of 2 main vessels of his heart. My hubby had to have CPR and be shocked as soon as care flight was making way to the ER at St. Mary’s hospital in Reno. Rushed in for an initial heart cath that required 4 stents to be placed; and my hubby survived even though he had to be shocked out of a lethal arrhythmia 5 or 6 more times!!! My hubby had to go back to have a 2nd heart cath in 3 hours, when 2 of his 4 new stents occluded! Dr. Desai performed the 2nd heart cath and again my hubby survived! Dr. Desai was extremely concerned that my hubby might bleed abnormally during the night and I was told that my hubby had suffered an horrific cardiac assault and wasn’t out of the woods!! The morning after, Dr. Desai stopped by to check on my hubby!! As I wrte this, my hubby is scheduled for discharge on Monday!!! Thank you, Dr. Desai and his medical team!!

Dr. Desai and his team preformed a TAVR procedure to replace an aortic valve. He is a caring, kind and ver professional and he gave me confidence that I would come through the procedure with great results. I would recommend his team and the entire cardiac unit at Saint Mary’s without reservation.

Before you read this review, read what Dr. Desai has written as his 3 basic principles. Without a doubt, Dr. Desai upholds these principals. He takes care of my elderly parents and has definitely prolonged their lives, answered every question; educated me on their issues and treatment options. He treats all of us with respect and kindness and my mom loves his hugs!

Wonderful, Delighful, polite, compassionate, understanding, patience are just a few words that can describe Dr. Desai. He is truly caring and one of a kind. I moved here two years ago and he has been my cardiologist since then. I wish he could move his practice to Texas as that’s where I’ll be moving. Best Dr. I know. He explains everything to you until you understand.

Dr. Desai has been my cardiologist for about 8 years. I can only say wonderful things about him. He is kind, caring and he listens to me. He hears all of my concerns and always has a plan to help improve my health. His bedside manner is also great and he has a wonderful sense of humor which is sometimes the best medicine.

Has performed several leg artery rotorootings for me--excellent results. In addition, is one of the most thorough all-around doctors I have seen. He actually reads patient charts and adjusts meds. He also scheduled next-day surgery to help me enjoy a previously booked trip.

I have been seeing Dr Desai for some time now. I would not dream of seeing anyone else. And have made him my 83 year old mother too. What REALLY stands out about this heart Doc is the time he gives you per appointment. He carefully explains EVERYTHING to you; and doesn't think that you are "to dumb to understand it". Since I learned I had a bad heart I've seen enough Doctors to know that Dr Desai is a special one. Great Doctor, Great knowledge, Great "bedside manner" You CANT find a better Doc!
