He operated on my sister's brain aneurysm and stayed our friend and helped us with her next 14 years! He called to check on her and he was always ready to help ease the way for anything we needed. He is a outstanding doctor and human!

He successfully removed a tumor the size of a lemon from my brain. The whole staff was amazing through the whole process. I highly recommend him.

Try other routes first
Dr Kim uncomfortably kissed me on the cheek after telling me that I'm a candidate for surgery. (I have since read that he was let go from a previous employer for improper conduct towards a female coworker.) I have been left with more pain and health issues post surgery. When my symptoms increased after surgery, I was sent for psychiatric testing instead of to a POTS specialist when I was showing symptoms. His surgery has helped some people, but has also made things worse for others. I recommend ruling out other causes of chronic pain with a rheumatologist before surgery. Had my hEDS been diagnosed before surgery, it would have allowed for a more realistic conversation about risks of surgery (they're different for hEDS patients) and chances of surgery helping.

Dr. Kim is a very caring and compassionate doctor. He is the best in specializing in Pineal cysts and did a awesome job with my surgery. However, after my second surgery when I began to have major complications his nursing staff completely disappointed me and let me down. I live 3 hours away and was instructed to drive back there for some tests and then drive 3 hours back only to have his staff call me 2 days later about results and put me on a medication that he was never aware of. There was not even a note made for him to even be informed of anything and I never was able to speak with him about any of it to let him know what had been going on. I was told by his nursing staff that I needed to follow up with my PCP that did not have a clue about my surgery or neurosurgery in general. There are still a lot of things I’ve had to do my own research on to find treatments for the after effects. Awesome doctor, piss poor nursing staff!

He and his team did an amazing job at removing my pineal cyst and giving me my life back. However I only had it for a moment, as due to poor nursing I sustained a brain injury just moments after my surgery. The hospital deny’s it, Kim Denys it everyone Denys it happened. But it did. I never thought this would happen to me but it did, and if it happened to me it can happen to you. I’m 27 in great shape and was a prime candidate for surgery. 10/10 Kim 1/10 his nursing staff

Dr. Kim has been my neurosurgeon since February 2001 after Walter Reed surgeons had sent me home to die. I owe my life to him and the skills of doctors and nurses at MHH in 2001 where I spent most of the year. He has been my only neurosurgeon in all these years due to the nature of my brain surgeries but I feel 100% confident in him. There's a reason I was led to him and for that I am forever thankful.

I absolutely LOVE HIM. Him and his staff are so understanding and sweet. He did my vp shunt surgery and when the shunt malfunctioned he got me in ASAP to do a revision even with Coronavirus going on. This man and his staff have given me my life back. They even call and check on me to make sure I'm doing okay. I will never see another doctor for my issue than him. If he were to move to a different area I would drive to him no matter where he goes! The wait time in the office is only minutes! Ms Stephanie is so sweet. When I email them through the portal I get a response or call in minutes! Don't waste your time with anyone else!

Poor bedside manner. Interrogated me about symptoms over 20 years ago. Not very helpful and seemed suspicious but still offered surgery—no thanks!

This Dr. is very informative and caring. He has helped me manage my pain with a successful surgery that combatted the cause and not just managed symptoms. This is important for long term care. He and his Resident talked me through the entire process allowing for concerns to be aired. His staff is? knowledgeable, trusting and reassuring. He is a teaching Dr. and his Residents are equally professional and helpful.

My experience was amazing and he gave me my life back. Removed a pineal cyst in 2016 which completely resolved my symptoms of 24/7 headache, vision changes, noise/light sensitivities, among countless others. He was compassionate, sat back and listened to everything I had to say. He showed great kindness to my mom and husband throughout the whole process. I would recommend him to anyone, as several health systems here (one of them Mayo) don’t believe prominent pineal cysts cause any issues.

Dr. Kim has done my Chiari decompression along with 3 shunt surgeries. And most recently did a Chiari decompression on our daughter age 15. We would not trust anyone to touch our daughter other than Dr. Kim and his staff.

Dr Kim gave my husband his life back. In April 2015 Dr. Kim performed surgery to remove a pineal come c tumor that had been causing seizures, blurry vision, migraines, and vertigo. Now it’s been 3 years and my husband not longer has any of these symptoms and lives a normal life. Making the 5 hour drive to Houston to see Dr Kim was the best decision we have ever made.

Do not go see this doctor!!! I went to him because my family doctor found an arachnoid cyst on the back of my brain. I went to see Dr. Kim and he wanted to do a spinal tap after he found there was nothing wrong in my pressure he wanted to take out the cyst so I had brain surgery right after that I experience painful headaches he ignored my symptoms I was admitted into the hospital and found out I had bacterial meningitis . He refused to admit me into the hospital I could've died doctors said.

Dr Dong Kim totally messed up my mother's life. He performed microvascular decompression surgery on her for trigeminal neuralgia. Not only did it failed but it left her with uncontrollable involuntary movements running and twisting in her mouth, face and head 24/7 nonstop with severe pain for 3 years now. He assured her that a redo of the operation will benefit her. Well, he made it 100 times worse. He also lied on his office notes. No neurosurgeon want to touch her now, not even the Mayo Clinic
