Dr. Donnaville Ortiz, MD

My experience with Dr. Ortiz’s office was terrible. I was quickly labeled Bipolar after saying I felt both happy and sad, based on an initial assessment with Dr. Kelly and a forged 2nd opinion—I had to get a lawyer to remove it from my record. I never consulted with a 2nd doctor as they put into my medical records. Dr. Ortiz pushed lithium and divalproex-sodium without explaining risks or benefits and got defensive when I asked for basic information. I brought up concerns about toxicity; she brushed me off, only saying it 'modulates brain function' after I voiced fears. When I asked her expertise, she deflected to another doctor and focused on her authority instead of clear answers. She claimed, “It took years to study,” refusing basic explanations and acting like my questions were adversarial. I left feeling dismissed, unsafe, and totally in the dark about altering my brain chemistry. There was no attempt at true informed consent and I won’t return. This experience destroyed my trust.
