Dr. Doris Wang changed my life.
Not only did Dr. Wang cure the tremor in my right hand... and did a brilliant job.... she also taught me how to correct the tremor in my left hand without surgery... using a Cognitive Behavioral approach. She is thoughtful, kind, patient and superb in her work. One of the finest doctors I've had the privilege to know.

Although this is a subjective observation, I *felt* as if the Dr was in a hurry to get to the next patient. She clearly was *not* at all rude or inconsiderate in any way, but there were a few times where I felt as if I was imposing on the allotted time by asking questions. This caused me to become somewhat 'flustered.' I again want to emphasize that she was being totally professional and thorough in addressing my questions and concerns--I just didn't have time to take in and absorb the entire discussion and am sorry I don't have a transcript to review 'at my own pace.'

An excellent physician
My surgery was performed in two stages, bilateral brain implants, and pulse generator. Everything went smoothly. All physicians and nurses were kind, caring, and efficient in all aspects of my surgical care.

Superior Provider & Team
I qualified for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound to treat essential tremor. ET was progressively making my life more and more challenging, and I learned of this procedure through an education company called Insightec. My hands in particular were affected with tremors, which caused me embarrassment and loss of self-esteem and confidence. I worked with Dr. Wang and her team, as well as a movement specialist (Dr. Brown) to get in place for the procedure. Dr. Wang responded to every question either live or via email. The entire team was kind, professional, knowledgeable and effective - and most importantly the procedure was successful. What a DIFFERENCE. I would recommend them to anyone for help with neurological issues.

DBS Surgery
Dr Wang is an effective communicator. She helped me to plan for my surgery and was personally attentive. She was also reassuring as she addressed my concerns during my post op visit one month after surgery. The surgery itself went well. I had bi-lateral electrode placement along with stimulator. All surgical wounds healed quickly and I was able to move from prescription pain meds to just OTC acetaminophen within a week. I would highly recommend her

DBS Surgery
Dr Wang and her team at UCSF were amazing. I have Early onset Parkinson’s and had unilateral DBS implanted for tremor occurring in both my right hand, leg and foot. There were a number of evaluations I had to undergo prior to the surgery to determine whether I would be a good candidate. These were each thoroughly explained but it did take time to schedule and complete. Once I had been cleared for surgery I went into the hospital on Tuesday morning and was home by Wednesday night. The outcome of the surgery exceeded expectations, owing to the skill and experience of Dr. Wang to identify the ideal location for the electrode within the sub thalamic nucleus. I had minimal bruising and was off pain medication about 8 days later. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Wang and the UCSF Neurological Surgery team!
