Dr. Douglas Young, MD

I’m a fan.

As someone who has three autoimmune diseases (one rare) and a heart issue I have seen A LOT of doctors. A few have been great, some have been mediocre, many have left me wondering how they were even able to become a doctor in the first place. Dr. Young falls into the great category. That is not an easy grade to get with me. Unfortunately he is not my primary care physician because of my insurance, but he is my husband’s primary care physician and due to my husband’s health issues I have been involved in all of his appointments. He has been my husband’s doctor for the past few years and in a number of instances he has given us more information, care, and assistance than some of the so called “specialists” we have dealt with. He is humble to the point he assumes we have already been given that information and he is just stating the obvious. I think Dr. Young and his staff (Nancy and Monica in particular) are awesome and I am happy to have them as part of our health team.

Without a doubt the single most unprofessional person I have ever met in the medical field. Talking with him is brutal, in person and online. He made extremely uncomfortable comments regarding the gay community and he spent more time on his phone than talking to me during our visit. Didn't listen to a thing I said, I had to repeat myself so often and then in the end he still kept ignoring me, eventually shoving me out the door even though he was the one late. He told me to message him my remaining questions, after messaging him then he said instead of messaging me I should just make a video call apt, and during the apt it was obvious he wasn't listening and he kept checking his phone and replying to things on his phone. I gave up, and after a month of trying to get basic help, I cannot recommend him to anyone.

Demeaning and insulting. As a potential research patient, Dr. Young insinuated that because I am gay and take PrEP (which he didn't know what it was) that I am HIV+
