Today was a very frustrating experience with Dr. Carroll at the new office in Millsboro. I accompanied my mother with a suspected torn meniscus to meet with Dr. Carroll. While the administrative and nursing staff was relatable, attentive and considerate, the experience with the physician was nothing short of disgust. He was condescending, arrogant, dismissive, belittling and more within the first five minutes of the appointment. While a physician may be an expert, with proven best practices, at the very least should speak with a patient and discuss their concerns. Dr. Carroll presented a very “my way or the highway” approach to my mothers care plan without any consideration for her thoughts. Insofar as intentionally turning his head while she was speaking with crossed arms and shaking his head. All over a cortisone shot. I’m sure this message will fall on deaf ears. If you’re reading, Dr. Carroll, I hope that even just for a brief moment you’d consider that your patients are deserving of more than just a lecture. That you would have a bit of compassion, humility and understanding and not be immune to the day to day you see, and meet people where they are.

Excellent Doctor & Caring Staff
Recently moved here to Rehoboth Beach, I was having problems with my knees, Did some research and was impressed with Dr, Carroll’s reviews, Called and made an appointment, and happy I did. Dr. Carroll is very personable, he takes the time to listen to you, and explains to you exactly what needs to be done. it is a no rush visit. I felt as if I was talking to a friend that I’ve known for years. His staff and Xray technicians go beyond expectations, they are kind, caring, and helpful. I will continue to see Dr Carroll when needed. I Highly recommend a Pleasant Visit. OH !!! waiting time Ten to fifteenth minutes Thank You Dr. Carroll and Staff

Hip surgery
He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain my hip problem and the needed replacement. The initial consulatation was the last time I saw Dr Carroll after my surgery; I never saw him after my surgery in recovery and neither did my wife to explain how the surgery went. In all the follow up visits, he was a ghost. After, the initial visit, I found him to be blunt and sometimes very rude, therefore he comes across as not caring. The scar from my surgery was still so sore 2.5 years after the surgery, I was constantly getting therapy and massages. I would not recommend. I have to get my other hip replaced now and I am choosing another surgeon in the same practice.Bill

2 knee replacements by Dr. Carroll
I had a total knee replacement in 2011. It was a rough recovery as knee was bone-to-bone and very arthritic. Both pain management and physical therapy were very difficult. I just had other knee done on 03/07/2023. No problems at all. Pain being managed well. Both home care RN and home Physical Therapist visits went well today. They both were pleased with my progress. The physical therapist was surprised how much function I already have. I’m 75 and I am also surprised how great I’m doing so soon this time. I highly recommend Dr. Carroll - he’s a thorough, professional doctor and a wonderful caring person. Some patients have given him poor reviews on his personality and bedside manner. He is succinct and to the point, and answers all your questions, and actually has a good sense of humor. I’m a RN for over 50 years, and have witnessed wonderful patient results from his surgeries.

Dr. Carroll put me at ease from the moment he walked in the room. I was impressed that he had already reviewed my xrays and other test results from my ER visit. He listened to me and then explained his diagnosis to me in terms I easily understood. He took a conservative approach to my treatment plan, which I really appreciated. I highly recommend Dr. Carroll.

My 81 yr old mother has had both knees replaced 25+ years ago. Yes she has multiple health issues and is a high risk surgical patient but this “doc” said there was nothing he could do to help her....he even refused to prescribe a very mild pain medication. I’ve been an RN in surgical services for over two decades and have never heard one of our surgeons treat a patient so badly. I definitely do not recommend

I found him to be rude & impatient. I was left crying......while he slammed the door behind him leaving me upset & confused about my injuries.I'm 63 & had taken a bad fall. I broke my nose, wrist and thumb. I was first treated at the emergency rm sent to my primary care physicians office two weeks later where I was encouraged to see an orthopedic dr. as soon as possible. The physicians assistant at my primary care doctors office arranged the appointment for 7:30am the next day. Bad attitude.

He was quite clear up front that we both had a job to do. He the mechanics of the joint replacement, and me, the stress of the physical therapy afterward to get the joint back to a full range of movement. I felt confident that Dr. CArroll would do the best job he could do and I would be sure to try to do my best. I hadn't walked without pain for three years or so and I sorely missed my beach walks!

Competent, professional, direct and tells it like it is. Dr. Carroll is all business; no talk about weather, sports or what the kids are up to during his examinations. Extremely focused on the patient's diagnosis and needs. His professional demeanor may lead some to say that he is not warm in personality but his credentials speak for themselves. I had no reservations in choosing Dr. Carroll as my physician for repair to my damaged knee.
