This doctor saved my life
I saw Dr. Carlson for a spider bite that kept growing on my skin. After listening to what I thought it was, the doctor said she didn't think it was a spider bite, and recommended a biopsy. The biopsy had to be big enough to get enough of a sample to make the diagnosis, and also required stitches, so she was going to have me return the following week for the procedure but my insurance was ending as I was between jobs, and I really needed it done on the same day. I could tell that the doctor and the staff were busy, however, when I explained the situation, the doctor said she would be happy to fit me in after seeing a few more patients. 30 minutes later, she performed the biopsy surgery, which literally saved my life as it came back as an aggressive type of skin cancer that will require many months of treatments. Thank you to this doctor and her kind staff.

Wouldn't recommend
Would not recommend seeing Dr. Carlson for a checkup. She seems very smart and is probably a great surgeon, but for a screening, she had very little patience and gave off a rushed feeling that she didn't want to take the time to see me or answer my questions. The American Cancer Society & Skin Cancer Foundation recommend a yearly skin exam, and yet she told me I should've checked my skin myself and made me feel stupid for being cautious about moles my other doctor had flagged... Will not be going back.

BIG SCAM
Wow what a scam! Go to a med spa where a consultation is FREE and not $300. They hide their fee list for a reason. Dr Ekama Carlson just rehearsed a list of information without properly inquiring my goals, asking what I’ve done in the past or letting me speak. Insurance won’t cover most things and she will charge you double what they charge at a med spa. BEWARE!

Great doctor but 1 hour wait times
I’ve seen Dr Carlson multiple times in the past year. The last couple of times we’ve had to wait for almost 1 hour despite showing up on time for our scheduled appointment. They gave us no heads up that dr Carlson was running late.

Great Mohs Surgeon in San Francisco
I saw Dr. Ekama Carlson for Mohs surgery in her San Francisco office. The experience was such a positive one. All the staff were friendly, caring, helpful, and hospitable. They even played my favorite music during surgery, and were kind enough to offer me an espresso as I waited for the lab to complete the biopsy during the procedure. Best Mohs surgery and dermatology office. I'll be back to this doctor for all my skin care needs

Excellent surgeon
Dr. Carlson did MOHS surgery on my nose. She and her assistants were gentle, kind, and the Dr. explained everything thoroughly even though I had a million questions. I returned today to get my stitches out and wow! I am very happy with my results. You can barely see the mark where she stitched me up. So thankful.

I had MOH's on my face - directly above my lip. She was very gentle from the administering of the numbing agent...to the stitches. It was a fairly large area from the bottom of my nose down to inside my lip. It has only been about 7 weeks so far and the scar is still a bit red, but barely noticeable.
