No empathy
His empathy as a surgeon is not good with an ongoing problem for 2 years and no resolution but something I previously did when I started treatment seems and feels like I've had to back track. Pushing things on patients that might not be affordable to them not a good idea. After my partner stressed the debilitating things that accrued and that are currently present in my life all he could do was shake his head and eventually just say 'ok' I tuned him out after that and walked out with the same pain. I don't recommend. I'll continue to make my appts to see the PA Nate.

Dr Eli rocks!
I had previously diagnosed anterolisthesis L4-L5 and had been trying PT and steroids with no change. The pain was acute when standing or walking. Dr Eli was the second surgeon that I consulted and he sold me on an XLIF procedure. Well I'm 7 months after surgery and couldn't be happier. Dr Eli did say there would be some loss of flexibility and I can tell but I have 99.9% pain relief. Really was life changing. I'm back to walking my dog, for miles. Doctor visits before and after were on time and on point. (shout out to his PA Nate as well).

Spinal surgery
Dr. Garrard is so pleasant and knowledgeable. To me he was a fantastic surgeon. Always positive. Available if you have questions. As well as having a good bedside manner, I feel that he really cares a great deal about his patients. He's very straightforward which I love. I needed spine surgery and was in severe pain. He told me to quit smoking for 30 days and he would talk to me...which he did. Now I can walk without pain and no more hunching over. He is great and I thank him so much. You, too, can trust him.

Without hesitation I recommend Dr, Garrod. His knowledge and expertise during my medical appointments was very calming. He encouraged several options of care before considering surgery. After months of various care options surgery was a must as my back pain, ability to function at work and at home was impossible. I had lower back surgery, Dr. Garrod explained everything in detail to myself and my husband. Surgery was very successful and I was walking that same night after I woke up. I stayed overnight at the hospital and the only pain was from the incisions. It' exactly three months later and I am fully living my life pain free and I feel better than ever. His staff is excellent, very helpful, and responsive. The portal e-mail system totally simplifies communications. I absolutely recommend meeting Dr. Garrod for a consult and come to your conclusions. I have and will ecstatically recommend him.

He is the best. Attentive explains we'll, laminectomy went perfectly. Can't say enough good things about him and his staff. Johns Creek hospital is abysmal and dirty. Housekeeping almost non-existent. Nurses and techs up and down in quality.

Amazing Doctor…
Dr. Garrard performed the minimally invasive back fusion on Oct. 2. From the moment we met, I felt very comfortable and confident with him. My pre-op was very complete and his care while I was in the hospital wasincredible. He visited me 3 times the day of surgery because he cared. I would recommend him to anyone.

I saw Dr. Garrard for a herniated disc. He sent me for MRI and based on those results, recommended 2 shots - I never heard from Dr. Garrard after that - only his assistant. -- He seemed good at first but lack of communication and empathy was stressful after I received my shots which didnt fully fix my issue. I decided to move on to a new doctor as a result. - Note here that he may be skilled at what he does - I cannot speak about his skills as a surgeon - I can only speak to what I experienced and I felt like just another passing $ to him. For those who are looking for a partner in your healthcare, he may be a little cold/pre-occupied.

I could not be more thrilled with my choice of Dr. Eli Garrard. He gave me my lifestyle back and I am grateful. I visited several highly respected surgeons prior to my meeting with Dr. Garrard. Dr. Garrard took a very measured approach with my back issues which I appreciated. He spent a long time with me talking through each option and why he thought they would or would not be beneficial for my situation, age and lifestyle. We discussed the other Doctors and their approach and compared and contrasted each with what Dr. Garrard was recommending. Ultimately, Dr. Garrard performed a laminectomy on my back and my recovery has been excellent. I am fully recovered, pain free and back living a very active life. Thank you is not enough for what he and his staff did for me!

Grateful and blessed to have found such a kind and knowledgeable surgeon. Had 2-level ACDF for spinal cord compression due to herniated disc. Woke up from surgery and had significant pain relief in shoulders and feeling in fingers - I excitedly shared with everyone who entered my hospital room that I could feel the texture of the blanket. Dr. Garrard's staff is also great. Scheduling is a breeze, and Megan is quick to get back with you when you have a question or concern. Highly recommend Dr. Garrard and Emory John's Creek!

I had fusion surgery (C5/C6). I had immediate relief from the pain and numbness. Dr Garrard and his entire staff was better than I could have hoped for. Everyone was genuinely concerned for my condition and took all the time needed to make sure that I fully understood the diagnosis and treatment plan. I never felt rushed, Dr Garrard and Megan made sure that all my questions and concerns were addressed before I left the office. I highly recommend Dr Garrard!

Dr Gerard has to be the rudest man I have ever met. Not only was he denigrating to me personally actually saying the word "idiot" but he also was very disparaging in regards to doctors in a different field from him & outright bad mouthed a prior procedure I had (which worked to get rid of the spasms I was experiencing) but when asked if he was even knowledgeable about the procedure he admitted he knew nothing, but he was prepared to denigrate it. Next he actually stated he did not believe the procedure was even done, as he couldn't see a scar, and further if we paid cash for the procedure (which we did not) he inferred the doctors were quacks. The quack is this guy, he was so egotistical it was nauseating. He could contribute nothing constructive. Neither I or my wife who was with me could recommend this Dr. You are wasting your time and money with him. Young, egotistical and completely disinterested unless it falls directly into his lap as to what he can do. Limited knowledge.

My experience with Dr. Garrard has been terrific! I had my first post-op follow up with him yesterday and told him that I could not have asked for a more positive outcome of my surgery. He had advised me to at least try an epidural before deciding on surgery which I did. It did not help and I decided to go forward with the surgery. It was the best decision I have ever made and it was largely because I felt confidant in Dr. Garrard's guidance and abilities. The surgery went extremely well and it has already been a life altering event for me after decades of back pain. He and his staff and everyone at the hospital were very professional and helped make my process as easy and comfortable as possible. I am thrilled with the results and look forward to playing golf again soon...whenever Dr. Garrard will give me the go ahead. :-) Highly, highly recommend him.
