Never go to this Neurologist!
This doctor is dismissive, rude, uncaring and extremely arrogant. During my first visit he never once looked me in the eyes. He conducted a painful nerve test without any explanation or consideration of my venerability. He rudely dismissed my first diagnosis which was about 10 years ago from a top Neurologist in Scottsdale AZ.Since our move to Colorado I was seeking a Neurologist in Durango for support with my disease.Dr. Edgar was belittling with his negative and pompous attitude which left me discouraged and in absolute tears as soon as I got into my car. What happened to him that made him so angry towards his patients?Neurologists have to endure intense training for years but this is no excuse to treat patients unkindly. Didn’t he take an oath to “do no harm?”This oath does include emotional harm. If you are seeking positive support with your neurological disease do NOT hire Dr. Edgar.

Our personal experience with Eric Edgar was terrible. Within the past year I was concerned with my husband's new onset of memory problems. Dr. Edgar could not have been more dismissing, rude and abrupt. At one point Dr. Edgar bluntly questioned why we would want to do more testing--asking why we would want to know if it turned out to be dementia. In addition, another family member went to see Dr. Edgar recently and had an equally bad experience. After seeing a neurologist in Denver for a second opinion, our family member was given a more definitive diagnosis. In the future, our family will make the trip to Denver to see a more caring and competent neurologist.

Little explanation
Went in for a consult. He ended up doing a neurological test on my feet. Very little explanation on what he was doing or why. Bedside manner needs a lot of work.

Doesn't keep up with the research.
Doesn't listen or consider the patient's descriptions and symptoms. A frustrating waste of time. In the visit summary, his 'black and white' impressions of symptoms were grossly inaccurate. Early diagnosis of anything is impossible if an extreme case of the condition is required for him to care enough to look.

Hard to reach and out of town a lot
I understand that vacations are wonderful but being SEVERELY in pain and not being able to reach or get an appointment for about 3weeks-1 month is ridiculous due to vacations. Do not recommend to anyone who may require certain medications to help pain cause you won’t get a call back for weeks!!

Bizarrely adversarial attitude toward this patient. Couldn’t find an obvious cause of symptoms between two tests and a 20 minute interview, so strongly suggested a psychological cause for symptoms (despite psychosomatic disorders being a diagnosis of exclusion). He may be fine for conditions advanced enough for abnormal MRIs, but he lacks the curiosity and humility to make a good diagnostician. If you are one of the patients Dr. Edgar has pegged as an updated version of “hysterical,” remember that asthma and MS were once dismissed as psychological conditions, too. Patient forums are full of stories about experts like these who, by disbelieving the reported experiences of patients, delay accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.

Extremely competent
I had a spinal stroke last March which lent me paralyzed from my waist down. I have been working hard rehabilitating the limited use of my legs since then. I had an appointment with Dr. Edgar yesterday, January 11. I walked into a clean, efficient office and the Receptionist had all my information together. A friendly Nurse took me to my exam room and took my vitals. Dr. Edgar came in on time, and he knew my medical history. He spent the first part of our session listening to me explain my stroke, and my journey. We then had a dialogue about my condition. We completed our visit with Dr. Edgar giving me his opinion, and making suggestions. My visit was incredibly positive. I was impressed with Dr. Edgar and his staff. I give Dr. Edgar and his staff my highest recommendation.

Needs to find a different career
Dr Edgar has a very poor ability to understand the needs of his patients, doesn’t do his job well and treats us with arrogance. I have a long experience with a common neurological condition and due to a long distance move I had to find a new doctor in the Durango area. After multiple appointments with Dr Edgar he has not even once done an exam that included the standard neurological tests for gait, balance, coordination, strength, etc. At one appointment I asked him about a research article that had been posted on a professional outlet to ask if the findings might apply to my situation. Without even considering the study, source and findings he angrily said that research was a waste of time and that was the end of the discussion. There have been other issues with him at each visit that showed his ego and rudeness. Front desk Staff have been friendly at check in and that’s where it ends. Dr Edgar should not be in the medical profession. He’s lost all credibility with me.

I have never walked out of a doctor's visit in tears before, but today I did. Dr. Edgar was extremly belittling from the start of the appointment, he had an air of arrogance that surrounded him. He did not address my concerns with kindness or compassion and stated I was going down a "rabbit hole" with my concerns ( I was referred to him, beacuse of two different doctors, so I wasn't going to him out of the blue). When I addressed him about his "bedside" manner he was defensive, and as I got up to leave before the appointment was even over, he responded with "Jesus Christ." I would never step foot in this office again and would recommend going a "non-local" route if you live in Durango and are in search for a neurological professional.

He was very unprofessional. Debunked findings from another neurocenter . Shoved my daughter and I out the door in less than 10 minutes. We had waited over a year to get a local neurologist in our area. What a dissapointment!

Have nothing but good to say about Dr. Edgar. Very professional and talked in words I could understand. I had some fears when I went in about my symptoms but he explained thing well and now I don't feel fearful at all. Took plenty of time with me and I didn't feel like I was rushed out at all. Highly recommend.
