He is a great doctor, very thorough and smart. But, not sure about the office staff, one person in particular, whose name I won't mention. Very short with me and actually walked away after telling me I couldn't see him and there were 100 people ahead of me on waiting list. She did not handle me with concern, and told me to go to ER or Urgent Health if I needed input and help. What happened to Dignity's 'humankindness'?

Never Again
Dr. Maher was husband's md & mine. Multiple terrible experiences with him & staff. I saw him initially for pre-surgery EKG. Staff tried to schedule me *after* my surgery, not understanding it had to be before; then the surgi-center never received the results so I had to physically go to the office for results & fax it myself. They also couldn't find lab results; had to hand walk those from lab to the office. Husband's experience was chilling. Saw Maher for extreme rash/fever/weakness; was told to take vitamins, return in 6 mos. UCLA had him with specialist in 2 weeks; he was extremely ill, requiring immediate treatment for a life-threatening condition. Also, they lost his pre-surg EKG, printed out different patient's results, whited out *her* name & hand wrote in husband's. Maher came through office asked what was happening; husband explained, then Maher rudely said, 'I don't have time for this, I have patients to see.' Husband reminded *he* was also Maher's patient.

Did not address my concerns
My main reasons for the visit were for bloodwork, hormone level testing and a medication change. He gave me the bloodwork lab slip however, he denied my request to run any hormones and said that it was unnecessary. He was confident hormones do not play a role in daily health/life and said hormones always change and testing was not needed and would not indicate anything. Despite my concerns over heavy periods, painful ovulation, an ovarian cyst, fibroids, adult acne and weight gain... all which point to hormones. I am mind blown and immediately came home and contacted 3 other providers in my network. Thankfully they all acknowledged they do not share that feeling and regularly run hormone tests. Obviously, I have changed providers.

Dr. Maher is a great doctor!
Been a patient of Dr. Mahler's for almost 5 years now. Never too long of a wait, he's always upbeat, friendly, attentive, concerned. He gives me his full attention. He has good "bedside" manners and doesn't try to be the "one in charge" He has done a great job in managing my diabetes and heart issues. I highly recommend him.

Dr Maher has been my doctor for over a year and I can say that I no longer trust him. My experience is that he does not listen and his opinion is the only opinion, whether you as a patient agree or not. It is like there is only one way to approach a health issue - his way. He is not open minded at all. The most recent incident he proved to be vindictive. With my health issue, I was not comfortable with the remedy he proposed, so it was agreed a test was needed to establish a baseline. On the test order form, he wrote comments on the order form about our difference of perspectives. This was doctor/patient information that was private. and did so without my consent. This is just one example. Again it is my experience and the little things over time that has drawn me to this conclusion.

Dr Maher has been great! I've been impressed with his willingness to listen and suggest methods to cope with issues related to my shoulder and foot pain. Was surprised to read above about complaints related to cortisone injections. Dr. Maher has been very supportive on that issue with me. But has wisely cautioned on the overuse of the procedure. I have been very happy with his care. I was one of Dr. Vaughn's patients until he retired. Dr. Maher is a wonderful replacement and similar in his care and approach.

It comes down to more than a year of my doctor, Eric Maher, ignoring my informed request for a steroid injection, his staff not calling me back, the office losing important documents, being called in for unnecessary appointments because his staff screwed up, and a doctor refusing to *listen* to his patient. I also need a doctor who practices in Morro Bay or Los Osos. I'm tired of this pain that makes me choose between what activities I can accomplish in a day.

Very unhappy with Dr Maher and the office staff. Poor communication, Dr tried bullying me on two separate occasions. Ignored refill requests for a week. Denied receiving the requests. Corporate medicine at it's worst. Imagine a diabetic without their insulin or syringes. Almost happened thanks to them. Good thing I had some syringes given to me by someone else. Diabetic for 49 years and this was one of the three worst doctors I have had. Dignity Health is a great misnomer.

I’ve seen Dr Maher twice this year (2019); once for an annual physical and, the second visit was for pre-travel prescriptions. I have found that as long as I arrive at my appointments prepared with my questions and I’m self-advocacy ready Dr Maher has been receptive, knowledgeable of my medical questions/concerns and willing to hear and discuss treatment and prevention options. I’m satisfied with the care and treatment I’ve received.

Literally every time I’ve had an encounter with Dr Maher, or his staff, they have messed something up which leads to more suffering. Bad referrals, losing EKG info the day before surgery, and now you can’t get an appointment for 3 months!!?? Stay away from this joker, who will insult you and think it’s funny.

Dr. Maher was amiable and a great listener. He never talks over his patients and is not dismissive about their issues. He was happy to speak about my health issues at length, and appropriately carried the conversation to relevant subjects, and was not in any hurry. He used to be an athlete, so he is very understandable about the issues young people have with injuries, and is genuinely interested in not just getting you working again, but restoring you to what you were previously capable of.

Dr. Maher has been a great addition to our community since the retirement of Dr. Vaughan. He listens to concerns & shows a great deal of empathy. I trust his medical treatment, which is always important in a primary care md and he really helped me get through a tough time in my life as a newer mom with worries and stressors. Also his knowledge in sports medicine has been quite helpful due to some past injuries that have always been on the back of my mind! I highly recommend this provider!
