Dr. Eric Simkin, MD

As a general rule, there is a long wait time for patients that have appointments with this doctor. Doesn’t understand the practical side of medicine and will spend an hour diagnosing a visiting patient with a simple cough and fever, hence the long wait times. He thinks he knows it all and talks down to his patients as though they don’t know what they’re talking about. There are plenty of providers that can do the same thing in half the time.

I was never able to establish care with Dr Simkin, which is unfortunate because he was the only one who specialized in the area that I was looking for. I made appointments with him weeks in advance, but he was always late! Kaiser’s policy has patients expect a call or video chat 30 mins before and up to an hour after the scheduled appointment. The first appointment, he called 2.5 hrs after my appt but I was no longer available since I had to get back to work. I had to reschedule the appt for nearly two weeks later, only for him to call nearly 1.5 hrs late! Again, I’m not available because I was driving home from work. I made Member Services aware of what happened and they filled out a grievance form on my behalf. I’m about to connect with a Case Manager tomorrow to figure out a resolution. I’m switching PCP’s…based on his other reviews, this seems to be a trend…not good!

Great. Fixed my problem. Friendly and respectful. Good sense of humor. Long wait was the only negative.

For Kaiser clients only. Dr Simkin is very personable, easy to talk to and very informative and knowledgeable. My wife and I enjoy our "visits" with him and he has earned our trust.
