There is something wrong at this clinic
This review is for the UCRM clinic not just Dr. Johnstone. She was kind, but I only spent about 5% of my overall IVF cycle with her, the rest was with nurses and staff. I had eggs frozen at this clinic years before and came back to use them in an IVF cycle. I would never recommend that anyone freeze eggs at this clinic. It seems that 99% of their business is fresh IVF transfers and any other procedure throws you and them into chaos. The nurses sent me incorrect protocols for fresh IVF transfers and I had to explain that I was using frozen eggs again and again. This got passed to billing and I was billed for procedures like egg retrieval that I wasn't doing. At one point billing got so confused they sent me actual medical codes that I had to google myself and correct. At my transfer, there was confusion as to whether they had used the correct sperm from my partner (?!). The icing on the cake was they billed me for storage of my frozen eggs *after they had used them all in the IVF cycle

I only saw Dr. Johnstone once, for a viability ultrasound, and she was professional. This review is for the Utah Center for Reproductive Medicine since I didn't have one specific doctor throughout the process. I approached the UCRM about having a child on my own. My first appointment, video call, was fine but I never saw a doctor after that (nurses only for IUIs). I know you have to advocate for yourself with doctors, but every step of the way I had to ask questions about tests and treatments that friends at other (out of state) clinics were receiving. Eventually after my 3rd failed IUI, I demanded to meet with someone in person to answer my questions. I met with a knowledgeable nurse who who said "because you don't have diagnosed infertility yet, we tend to just leave you alone." She confirmed that I wasn't imagining things. I was truly alone in making a life-changing, expensive decision that I wasn't an expert in. I worry this will happen with other single or LGBTQ couples.

She was great until I stopped responding to treatment. I felt because I wasn't a good candidate for IVF I wasn't worth her time. On several occasions she said one thing but would not follow through.

Dr. Johnstone is amazing! My daughter suffers from endometriosis and had tried for 2 years to conceive a child. Dr. Johnstone was able to perform surgery and 3 months later my daughter was pregnant. We now have a 16 month old little girl. With out Dr. Johnstone's skills and expertise we would not have our little miracle baby. We highly recommend her!

Please, do not waste your time! It was difficult to explain things to her. It seemed as if she was distracted and didn’t put in an effort to understand us. We have been dealing with infertility for a couple of years now. Dr. Johnstone seemed as if we were a lost cause. We have gone elsewhere.

Just awful. I saw her after my favorite doctor left, and I regret wasting my time and money. The wait (to see her, for her to come back after changing, for her nurse to come back with an answer, really for anything) was awful, she dismissed my need for monitoring and basically treated me like I wasn't worth her time since I wasn't IVF. I'm happy I found my old dr at her new clinic, because I know my treatment would have been beyond subpar from Dr. Johnstone.
