My daughter was diagnosed with ocular migraines almost 2 years ago at PMC, and told to see her primary care. Her PC advised her to see Dr Garland. We tried, and tried, and tried. It never happened. Instead we were stuck with one of his funkiest, who told her she was on an, "old, bad medication", but didn't prescribe anything better. Who ordered an EEG, a sleep study, and allergy tests - the last of which was completed inNov 2022. And we've heard nothing. Her PC wasn't forwarded the records, the office doesn't return our calls. And they haven't contacted us. I asked my PC for a different referral, 2 business days later we received a call. Less than 2 weeks after that, she's being seen. Dr Garland obviously does NOT care, as long as he can order expensive tests that bring money into the system.

Questionable morals
Dr Garland refuses services for patients with major health issues. I can't tell if he just simply isn't cut out for it or if he just picks and chooses who he wants to help and who he doesnt care to help at all. Super disappointed in services provided by him.

I was a patient of Dr. Garland as a kid and he was wonderful. I now know as an adult that I have Catamenial Epilepsy (meaning my seizures are caused by a hormonal imbalance -very common in women). This type of epilepsy was not fully understood when I was growing up and still needs to be more widely known today. I am now back in Idaho Falls and I have every intention of being his patient again because Dr. Garland was so wonderful. I highly recommend him.

Service dogs are not welcome in his office. Even if the patient needs to have one present. He caused me to have a medical episode because of it. He was very distracted during my appointment. He seemed like he didn’t care or he wasn’t interested.

My husband suffered a stroke two years ago. Dr Garland was immediately involved in his care ordering necessary tests to determine extent of brain damage he has followed up since making sure he got the necessary testing for any further damage or healing. He referred us to a brain core treatment which has helped him very much. Dr Garland is a very caring, thorough doctor and we would recommend him to anyone.

Excellent physician! There is a comfort in knowing he’s the only Neurologist that our local hospital has on staff and trusts to take care of not only his own patients but theirs as well. Very knowledgeable and caring doctor. Great staff.

I am very surprised by Dr. Garland’s average rating! I have seen Dr. Garland over quite a few years, and have found him to be highly professional and knowledgeable from the beginning; my trust in him has only grown over time. He listens well, asks questions, does thorough exams, orders tests when necessary, and pursues effective treatment. Dr. Garland is a committed and caring health care provider. (I have never had an URGENT appointment, but I have not found it difficult to get an appointment.)

I have loved being a patient of Dr. Garland. He takes time to listen and answer any questions I have had. He has been a life saver. He has helped me during a time that I was so scared, because other Doctors didn't know what was going on, they would just bounce me to someone else. He was the only Dr. that took the time to find out the cause.

I will not be going to this Dr. I have not even seen him yet and have been treated horribly by staff. I have never felt like I was a burden to anyone until I called and had a few questions. They couldn't be even be of a little help. It is not my privilege to see you. It should be your privilege to see me. Being in this kind of field, the office staff need more empathy. We are not numbers in your cattle herd.

Horribly unprofessional I called to make an appt fordaughter who is a student suffering the after effects of a severe concussion. I needed to know if the doctor could see me even though I was out of state. I was assured that it would be no problem. Unlike other doctor office and I have dealt with in Idaho. They asked me to call insurance, primary doctor etc and then after taking up so much time that I can't send her back to CA before school starts they called to cancel the appt. Now I'm stuck

Would not recommend Dr Garland for trigeminal neuralgia due to lack of knowledge. He just recommended pain killers. Doing my own research I went to UofU and had a 1/2 hour surgery that fixed the severe pain. Blackfoot staff and Dr Garland very slow to transfer records, did not care.

Very satisfied with the care that we receive from Dr. Garland and his office staff. They are very professional, courteous and friendly. We have been seeing Dr. Garland for the last several years with my son who suffers from migraines and he is very patient and has been so helpful in finding the correct medications that would help my son.

Disorganized, lacking personal skills, no follow up, untimely regarding records, poor front office staff. Treated my wife as if she did not exist. As a caveat to an otherwise poor experience, he seemed to know what he was talking about.

I would recommend Dr. Garland. I was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome and while I was at the hospital he was very caring. He came to see me everyday and answered any questions I had in regards to my recovery and things I needed to do to get better. Friendly individual and I have nothing but good things to say about him. Once I got out of the hospital it took me 4 weeks to get an office visit. He was booked up. It may have been due to the time of the year as this was in November.
