Dr. Erika Altneu, MD

She is very caring quite intelligent, and most compassionate. She is very responsive to questions and inquiries. We are so glad we found Dr. Altneu.

I am 76 years old, healthy and very competent in managing my health. I see a doctor only when I have an issue I want to discuss. With this visit, Dr. Altnue focused on the fact that it had been 3 years since my last appointment and asked why I had not come in. She told me I could not continue to be a patient at the clinic (They have a rule.) if I did not come once every year, but would enter me as a new patient. I had updated Dr. Altnue throughout the 3 years of all vaccinations and other procedures that required specialists, but she did not address any of that information, because she had not read my file before meeting with me. When she came into the room, she asked 'Have we met before?' I was treated in a condescending manner; not as the person accountable for my health. I did not get any value from the appointment-greatly disappointed. Will not return.

Over the past 10 years, Dr. Altneu has always promptly responded to all my needs and concerns. She always gives great advice in a non-threatening way. So happy I get to be included as one of her patients!

Spent time listening to me and had already reviewed my health records prior to my visit. Developed a plan of care that was reasonable with goals for upcoming few months. Very impressed with her cardiac knowledge. When I came down with Covid she immediately ordered antivirals for me.

I have been a patient of 2 different Senior Health First for several years and when I was notified that my PCP had left the practice I had to choose another. During my initial "get to know one another" appointment she decided to take me off my blood pressure and almost immediately, my blood pressure began to rise. When I brought this to her attention she responded "we tried". Since this appointment I question her ability to manage my care as well as her professionalism. On 4/13/22 I contacted her for advice regarding a recent fall, explaining that I had seen a chiropractor. She questioned my judgement and suggested that I try physical therapy. She presumed that I should be treated for back and balance rather than the issues I described. When I contacted her about this oversight she responded "In the future please be as specific as possible with what you are requesting as I really do not have the ability to answer multiple messages for one issue".

My mother called Dr Altneu’s office to get advice when my dad was showing signs of an infection. She never returned her call. Next morning he had to be taken to the hospital. My mother again called to get Altneu to call her for advice about dad. Dr Altneu still didn’t call mom back. My father suddenly started being seen by a social worker and was scheduled for rehab for Dementia. He was brought to the hospital for an infection. Come to find out Dr Altneu had called the hospital and told them she suspected dementia in my father for sometime, and pushed the hospital to begin treating him as if he had dementia. She never talked to us at all. All of the tests had already shown he didn’t have dementia. She instantly assumed what was wrong and labeled him with dementia. He had a severe infection after a tooth was pulled. He was weak, groggy and confused from the infection and dehydration. Her actions were reckless, uninformed and without any patient input at all.

Dr. Altnue has provided wonderful care for my 90-year old mother for the past 10 years. She takes the time to listen to our concerns and is caring. When Mom was ready for a retirement home, Dr. Altneu set us up with a senior coordinator who was very helpful.

Very non supportive toward/with family members caring for elders. I felt the brushoff very strongly. Would not reccomend to others.

This doctor blew off my husband when he was showing signs of cancer. She even argued with me about his elevated white blood cell count being "nothing to worry about". 6 months later he was diagnosed with cancer. 9 months after that he died.

It started well but then went downhill. Was pegged into a category so the doctor saw me through only that one scope. Not good. Lost confidence in her treatment and caring for me. She didn’t see me as a multi dimensional human being. She demeaned me for being me in her low tone of voice. She was definitely not a match for me and my health requirements.

Excellent doctor. Listens, cares, does not rush you. Very knowledgeable.

I appreciate her "bedside manner" and her willingness to answer any and all questions. I have recommended her to several people who have asked for recommendations on a female doctor who accepts medicare.

Don't bother trying to add Dr Altneu as new Primary Physician. Scheduling will place your first appointment 3-4 months in the future even if you are in dire need of medical attention now.

listened before asking questions, asked great follow up questions, offered options to treatment and explained pros/cons and possible based on my insurance, really explored medication options (benefit vs cost), followed up about whether meds were working
