Dr. Oteng has excellent bedside manners and demonstrates care, concern and excellent medical advice related to managing chronic pain, risks and benefits of various treatment modalities and honestly explains the treatments are not cures and may or may not bring monumental relief that may result in the need to try other forms of treatment. She listens intently, shows interest in my needs and desires and open to allowing me to explore other modalities of care to manage pain. She is top notch.

Awful
She spent entire visit bashing previous providers that recently left. All she kept saying is that’s why they were not here anymore. Didn’t even review my record, never asked about me, never examined me. Got up and left. She didn’t want to take on the previous physicians patients and made that very clear. Made me feel like a criminal for my treatment plan. Couldn’t have a professional conversation that went past how bad my previous physician was and why he isn’t there anymore. Mercy? Yeah, the Mercy of a broken system who labels us as criminals. Steer very clear.

Lack of compassion
I was forced to see her because my original Dr left the clinic. She asked what I needed and I told her. She interrogated me asking why I needed such a strong med. I told her and she said she wasn't going to prescribe it because I didn't need it and then suggested a medication I've tried before that didn't work. I told her that and she said she won't prescribe that outpatient. This all happened in less than 5 minutes of meeting her. Completely ignored my pain management protocol that I've had 15+ years. Pretty bad when a pain management doctor invalidates the severity of a patients pain.
