Refused to listen
My sister went in for an appointment today after her pediatrician and another doctor at the time referred her to Dr Berdjis on the grounds that she may have EDS and POTS so she’d have to get it checked out. Dr Berdjis refused to do any tests he deemed unnecessary, my sister asked for a tilt test and he denied her it on the grounds that it was “Basically like torture”. He watched her heart rate spike but when examining her scans said nothing was wrong because her heart wasn’t inflamed or had any cancers in it. He blamed her spiking heart rate on the fact that she ‘has low endurance’ and told her to ‘just work out more’, however he refused to explain her other symptoms like hypermobility, constant fainting, nausea, and more; claiming that it was “not his issue” and proceeded to advise her to never get a second opinion on it because she is ‘perfectly normal’.
What went well

  • Appointment wasn't rushed
  • Wait times
What could be improved
  • I didn't feel respected
  • Didn't listen or answer questions
  • Didn't explain conditions well
  • Staff wasn't friendly
  • Didn't trust the provider's decisions

Dr Berdgis placed an amplatzer device for the closure of a large ASD. We won the lottery when we were referred to Dr Berdgis. His skill and expertise were beyond compare. Bedside manner was simply superb. He was completely reassuring while keeping us well informed. He was such a blessing! Amazing doctor!
