Not a good experience at all!
I had a heart ablation done, he couldn't find the problem area. So he had me come in for a pacemaker upgrade from a defibrillator to a 2 lead pacemaker. I woke up multiple times during surgery that lasted an hour longer than expected. The next day I was in the hospital for suspected nerve damage from the surgery I had pain shooting through my shoulders, chest and up the back of my head. He suggested acetaminophen and ice. 2 weeks later the pain finally subsided. Then after removal of the bandage I had a dissolvable stitch hanging out of my skin which then caused an infection. I'm currently on a strong antibiotic and still have a hole from the stitch in my chest. He was not helpful in all of this at all. And now he's transferring. Be aware!
What went well
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Staff friendliness
  • Trusted the provider's decisions
  • Wait times
What could be improved
  • I didn't feel respected
  • Didn't listen or answer questions
  • Didn't explain conditions well
  • Appointment was rushed

Dr Hakim listened intently to my concerns. He acknowledged my frustration with all that is occurring in my life in relation to my problem/problems. Dr. Hakim is, in my belief, truly concerned about improving my quality of life. I am so thankful to God for His Providence in providing such good physicians right here at St. Rita's (Bon Secours) so that one does not have to drive hours to obtain care such as I am receiving. Thank you.

I was seen by a different resident. First time. He was very friendly and took a good look at my chart.

I saw him when he was a Fellow for cardiac problems I was having (palpitations/arrhythmia, PVCs, light headedness, angina, and prior PND). He listened to my heart for possibly 20 seconds and told me it sounds fine. He would not let me see the Doctor. He was dismissive to my situation and condescending. It was after he left the room that I told the nurse I was having symptoms, she hooked me up to an ECG and there it all was all on the ECG...the symptoms. The Cardiologist Fayaz reported to then came in the room and ordered a bunch of tests for me. Thank goodness the Nurse cared enough to help me. Otherwise, I was being sent home!
