Dr. Roumani FAILED to ADEQUATELY screen/clear my friend for extensive knee replacement surgery. My friend was transported from a PA nursing home to ECMC for surgery, & upon review by the anesthesiologists & the orthopedic surgeons there, they noted a SEVERELY low platelet numbers, & were shocked that Dr. Roumani had cleared her for surgery because of that (she could have bled out on the OR table). Thankfully, they caught the error PRIOR to her surgery. She had to be transported back to the N.H., & will need to have 3 hours of transfusions at ECMC 3 days later, prior to her badly-needed surgery, after the transfusions. She will also be billed (OUT OF POCKET) for the time she was at ECMC & transportation to & from the day she was unable to have the surgery, due to Dr. Roumani's error. This SHOULD have been noticed BEFORE the clearance for surgery, & she NEVER should have had to go through this stressful experience. I was with her the entire day, & noted the dismay in the ECMC staff.
