Dr. Florian Nickisch, MD

Dr Nickisch did surgery on my right ankle and completely and was able to take care of my ankle.

Dr. Nickisch repaired my calcaneal fracture and subtalar joint in August 2023. He explained my injury and the surgery very well and gave me an accurate timeline for recovery and expectations. After my surgery, he called my parents and gave them a great overview of how everything went and answered all their questions. He always took his time with me during appointments, never felt rushed, and had excellent bedside manner. He genuinely cares about all of his patients. Both him and his office staff were extremely professional and responded quickly to MyChart messages and medication refill requests. I even had an issue with my splint rubbing my heel and his office got me in the next morning to investigate and replace it. His office also has a CT scanner and XRay machine in the office so you can get imaging studies done and read quickly at the time of your surgical appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Nickisch to anyone needing a complex foot surgery. He is simply the best!

I've had Nickisch do surgery on both of my feet and they healed perfectly. I don't trust 5 star reviews, so I'm leaving a 4- but to me he deserves a 5. I went to some surgeons who were not comfortable doing everything I needed done in one surgery, and he did it successfully. He is always concerned and kind. His staff praise him because he doesn't have the typical ego.

I have been through five different surgeries with four different surgeons, a knee replacement, both shoulders completely redone, and two major foot surgeries. Dr. Nickisch is absolutely amazing in regards to his experience, expertise, and how much he cares. His explanation of the diagnosis was extremely detailed as well as his plan of how to address the issues. Dr. Nickisch is a full-blown pro! I 100% recommend him!

I was bitterly disappointed with my ankle-surgery and healthcare experience with Dr. Nickisch. Over the course of 6 months he walked out of every appointment abruptly, leaving me with unaddressed concerns and no practicable advice. When I followed up, he would either reply through his staff with one word answers or else refuse to answer any questions at all, saying, "We already went over everything," when we had not. He gaslighted me on several occasions and turned his staff against me, casting me as the anxious or worried type and not worthy of their time and care. Follow-up appointments were always administered mostly through his resident assistants, with only a brief visit by him. The surgery note and some of the surgery was performed by his resident without informing me and he left the surgery early. It took 10 weeks to hear from him how the surgery went. The important joint alignment, the reason for the surgery, ended up flawed with what a second opinion called a "malalignment."
