I actually was quite pleased and satisfied with this doctor and his office however I've been going there for some time now and recently they have dropped my insurance through my Medicare advantage plan for being that I had an HMO. And in the middle of things and my medical issues I now have to find a brand new doctor to start fresh with. I'm not happy but I do think the doctor is very good but the whole system and office not so much.

Disappointed
The first time I saw Dr Averill I found him to be very personable. However, when I got ill, it was a different experience. He absolutely ignored my concerns, and sent me off with an inhaler I had never used. I ended going to the emergency room. I will never use this man.The day that I saw him, I waited in the waiting room for over an hour but didn't mind since I felt he was busy. However, he didn't address my concerns. When I left his office without any treatment, I was amazed to see a lady in a wheelchair who was gasping for air, and she was kept waiting in the waiting room instead of being given preference over the other patients.Very disappointing. Will never use him.

If you want an answer quoted to you from a book this is the place to go. Honestly I was insulted that they treated me like I was a dumb test rat.

Worst doctor ever
Saw Dr Avrill 4 times in 3 months. Office staff was very nice. Waited in the exam room at least 40 minutes each time before anyone came in to see me. Then it was someone different first before Dr Avrill. Dr Avrill did not remember anything about me or what was discussed at prior visit. At my next visit he told me I had asthma and gave me an inhaler to try. I has a bad reaction to it so he gave me a different one. I had a bad reaction to that one so I stopped taking it. At next visit he gave me another inhaler said us it for 30 days. At the next visit he did not remember giving me the inhaler to try. He asked me if anyone ever told me I had asthma. I said only he did. Then he asked me if I had tried an inhaler. I said as I told him before inhalers never worked and I only used the I haler he gave me for 30 days because he made me. He just laughed. He is so into his COPD and asthma trials I feel that he was trying to fit me into the asthma category, which I am not!!! He is also to big on

Yes, I would recommend Dr. Averill to family & friends. I thought he was very professional yet quite personable. The PA was warm & friendly. The gal who did the spirometer test was also nice & patient. I had no complaints at all, but if I were to critique them, I would only ask that when we make appt, (with scheduler) PLEASE give us a heads up about length of time we can expect to be there. Then we can plan our day accordingly. I had 1 pm appt & had a 3 pm appt with another provider. I was not released from office til about 3:20 pm. It worked out ok, because my 2nd appt was via phone so I did that in my car. It's the little details that matter. Nonetheless, the entire staff was nice & competent. I have a lung nodule & feel I am in good hands with Dr. Averill. SJ

Worst medical appointment experience. Building stunk like rotting onions, no one at the front desk for my 3:20 PM appointment, waited ten minutes, no one shows up so finally I have to yell out. "hello" and finally someone arrives and it is Jeremy. He asks me if I have an appointment, "seriously" I'm just standing here for the fun of it. Yes, I have a 3:20 appointment scheduled to see Dr. Averill's PA for a script refill. "Sorry", Jeremy says, you have to see Dr. Averill and he is not here. Once again, "Seriously!" My appointment was set up by your office, I was told Dr. Averill would not be in so I would have to see his PA, and you are telling me that I cannot, that I have to see Dr. Averill? Totally unprofessional! 1. I should never have been scheduled if I needed to see the Doc and not the PA. Shows a remarkable lack of understanding on the part of the person who scheduled my appointment. 2. I was not offered an opportunity to reschedule while I was there, not that I would have at

WORST experience EVER! After waiting over a month for an appt regarding insomnia, Dr Averill prescribed a sleeping med that costs almost $800 and not covered by insurance. One single pill is over $25 through GoodRx! For TWO DAYS now, both the pharmacist and myself have been calling his office to get a substitute rx at no avail. The pharmacy called 2x yesterday and 2x today. I called first thing this morning myself. I then called the answering service and found they have NO after hour message pickup whatsoever for patients. They only answer when they get into the office in the morning?!?!? And the answering service would not take a message because I'm not calling for a sleep study code!? What a crock of crap! ?? Do yourself a favor and GO ELSEWHERE with sleep issues. They have no issue taking your money, yet apparently have issues with follow up and returning calls. This office is a JOKE!

I have severe sleep apnea. My test score was that I stopped breathing 63 times p/hr. Saw him for 2 yrs. My score only improved to 20-30 times p/hr with his care. I expressed concern many times but his response was, "Well, you're better than you were." I felt dismissed and angry. Finally saw another sleep doc who had me under control that SAME NIGHT!! This man is uncaring and dismissive. He never pulled a detailed report, had my pressure too high and didn't care. Avoid him!

I have been to the office twice. The office staff is professional and helpful. The Doctor is prompt and thorough. He listens thoughtfully and is well prepared to discuss the situation and any potential future direction. I would highly recommend him as a pulmonary provider.

Would not recommend this doctor. Impossible to get in touch with nurse, phone rarely goes to voicemail and when it does, calls are never returned. I got lucky and actually got to speak to the nurse but never got a return phone call. Later attempts were unanswered. Requires unnecessary appointments when all you need is a referral. Have always waited at least 45 minutes until after my appointment to be called back and then another 15 for dr to show up. big waste of my time and money.

I wish I had checked Health Grades before I went to Dr Averill. Everything Iv read has happend to me as well. He came in the room & didn't introduce himself or greet me & my husband. He began immediately typing on the computer. He then prints out something from the internet and hands it to me, with no explanation. Then gets up to leave. I have to stop him by asking him what my diagnosis was, and what the treatment plan was. He gave a brief answer and just left! AVOID this "Dr"!!!!!

Greats nicely, asks 1-2 brief questions, then spends most of the visit inputting on the computer, seldom looks back at you, then gets up - and he is done or is sending in a nurse to give you an injection. When you go back out to reception , is when you find out when he wants to see you again. Does not really communicate much with you through out the visit, doesn't voice what he feels is happening with you and what to expect. You have to ask, in order to get an answer.

Dr. Averill Administered a harsh drug and on the first night I had problems with the med I 1st called the Pharmacy for this med and they told me I need to speak to my Dr. so I called his off and left a message and 7 days later (still having issues) no phone call, this is a med that could cause serious problems if not monitored closely but he seemed to have no concerns, needless to say I got a new Dr. and when I called Dr. Averill's to cancel all future appt. then they decided to call

My impression of Dr. Averill was very poor. He did not introduce himself when he entered the room. He did not excuse himself when a staff member knocked and asked him a question, instead he just got up and left without saying anything and was gone for 10 minutes. He seemed downright annoyed when my answers to his questions didn't fit whatever form he was trying to fill out on his computer and didn't pay attention or outright dismissed my attempts to explain why I was answering as such.
