Both my wife and I have been patients of Dr. Soans. I believe him to be knowledgeable, articulate, and well qualified to diagnose and treat persons with glaucoma. However, in his approach, he is unsympathetic, often curt, even disrespectful, robotic, and intolerant of his patients’ fears. Given his qualifications, we tolerated those flaws. But he ‘crossed the line’ when he refused to consult with my wife’s Primary Care Physician about the damage a drug might have on her eyesight if prescribed for treatment of a different malady. That is far beyond what can be tolerated! It is outrageous!! It is unconscionable!! It is a doctor’s responsibility to protect the life and well-being of his patient. Dr. Soans failed miserably in this regard! Summary: If you can tolerate treatment from someone who works and communicates in a manner similar to that of an unsympathetic, well-programmed Android, Dr. Soans is for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Went in for a peripheral eye test for glaucoma and Dr. Soans required that you have your eyelid taped up for 20-30" so you wouldn't blink. I finally took the tape off and left. He then had the gall to bill me for that test which I couldn't finish. His bedside manner will put you in the graveyard with the stress. Very unfriendly. As a customer I've never been treated by a Dr. like that. Made me extremely nervous and upset. Couldn't think or focus on the test. Went to a different ophthalmologist and completed the same test in 5" and did not tape my eyelid up. Would not recommend him at all!

I would not recommend this dr..his chair side manner is atrocious..he may be very intelligent but cold uncaring doesn't treat you with respect..doesnt seem to like women very much including his staff..find another dr..he uses the scare tactic to get compliance. I have never been so stressed out in my life.
