Lowest of Low Dr. Candela recommended and performed a colon reduction. I felt rushed into having the procedure by his over- confidence. He then cancelled post-op checkup two times in a row due to "personal matters" even after I expressed concern over pain and fever. Ended up in Emergency with a diagnose of sepsis from leaking intestinal tract. He had failed to properly close up the internal intestine. I ended up having to have an ileostomy (external feces bag) for months. Ended up going to a specialist at USC to finally get the ileostomy reversed.

I got injured back on 05/08/2022. I went to Dr. Candela's office in West Hills. Candela diagnosed me with an "Adductor Tendinitis" within the first 3 minutes without physicals evaluation. I mentioned a about my hernias on both sides. Upset He asked to drop my pants in front of the lady accompanying him. He checked the scrotum and affirmed it was the Adductor. He wrote it down on his business card. He set a two weeks follow up. On the follow up day, he didn't remember the reason for the follow. I mentioned the "Adductor Tendinitis". He asked me to drop my pants but this time, he robbed my belly instead. It could had been done with pants on. Then he order a CT scan and bloodwork . I asked something for the pain. He said that was on primary MD instead. Now, his assistant told my MD assistant they found nothing wrong with me at all and no need for pain medication. So if I am fine why a CT scans? It's all about revenue not health. The manager is very unprofessional & rude

i had to have emergency surgery and this is who did it. He lectured me and was rude to me constantly while in the hospital. He refused to prescribe me pain meds afterwards too. He said that the Cures system wouldn’t let him. that the system cancelled them?! yeah right! it’s akin to assault. Plus he is full of it bc he would prescribe them today either, lol. what? run away!

Dr. Candela is a very experienced and skilled surgeon, whose confidence and warm bedside manner put me immediately at ease. He really took the time to answer all my questions, told me anecdotes to ease my fears, and on the day of surgery, came by to visit beforehand to reassure me. He was as excited about the results of my surgery as I was! Dr. Candela was recommended by other surgeons, which is always the best sign, and his former patients also spoke very highly of him as well as staff at the hospital. I heard more than once from staff that if they were to have surgery, they would choose Dr. Candela. I also wanted to mention that his office staff are on top of everything - they're diligent in following up for all authorizations and reporting on results. Colleen specifically deserves a call out for going above and beyond.

Stay away from this practice. They are very good at the time of collecting your copay but the goodness ends there. They didn’t even bother to take my wife’s vitals. This “doctor” showed a total lack of respect for the patient.

I met with Dr. Candela to discuss my options for potential surgery for a "Large Ventral Hernia." Dr. Candela examined me and explained that due to the unique nature of my hernia he wanted to consult with some colleagues to discuss the best possible way to repair it. Dr. Candela got back to me in a timely manner and gave me a detailed analysis of the best route to take. After surgery he walked me through a step by step recovery process, I'm 7 weeks post surgery and making a full recovery.

If there would be 10 star option then Dr. Candela would've gotten it! Excellent personality, very good and mostly caring doctor! My son had bilateral inguinal hernia. Dr Candela was prompt with scheduling all required steps and services. Surgery was a success, post ops visits as pleasant. We definitely would recommend him to anyone in need!

Dr. Candela recently performed a robotic inguinal hernia surgery on me at Providence Medical Center in Tarzana, CA. He is an amazing surgeon. This was my first surgery ever. But I have to say, that II had very little discomfort after the procedure, and within 12 hours I was past the discomfort, and feeling like I was on the path to healing. I would highly recommend Dr. Candela to anyone!
