Incompetent
Was pretty flippant about my mother’s condition. Ignored and did not treat green pus matter in her ear. Condition worsened under his care.

Horrible Medical Advice
I saw Dr. Melvin a while ago and did not have a great experience with him. I was 16 at the time and was being seen for pharyngitis d/t GERD. I had been having reflux issues for years so much so that I was having heartburn at a young age. Long story short he prescribed omeprazole, which is a common medication to help with reflux. However, his advice was that we wait until I'm 30 years old to consider other options. On the wall of the office room was literally a sign saying waiting for too long with untreated GERD could lead to esophageal cancer. I was livid. Also, I knew that the long-term use of omeprazole regularly could lead to me having vit B12 deficiency, which would not be good and my current primary care doctor agreed with me. I'm very glad I am in healthcare and know the side effects of medications because if I didn't this would've been horrible advice to follow. He also made me feel very uncomfortable in his office. Not the doctor for me.

Dr. Melvin is amazing, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to family or friends. He is so patient, realistic, honest, kind, and really has a great sense of humor and wit! I broke the orbital floor and lower part of my jar after falling on my brick patio one rainy evening. Dr. Melvin knew exactly what to do. I have my face back, and I’m so happy for that! Love this guy!!!!

Dr. Melvin replaced some bones in my ear that had decayed from growing up with ear infections. I couldn’t get anyone to help me from my suffering reoccurring infections because my addiction to smoking . Dr. Melvin was kind enough to help. That was back in late eighties or early nineties. I haven’t had any problems since. Best doctor ever. I appreciate you for making a big difference in my life. God bless you.

The best surgeon I have ever encountered. I have had several surgeries in my 80 plus years and been satisfied with the surgeons that performed these surgeries, but Dr Melvin is at the top of the list. Very professional, knowledgeable, thorough, listens, and has a wonderful dry sense of humor.

Pleasant and very helpful and knowledgeable. His bedside manner is very attentive and he brings a subtle but noticeable level of humor to it all. I've been very happy with him.

I have had bad experiences with dismissive ENT Docs...but this was not one of them. Dr. Melvin was super with my son and definitely had a real interest in my child's well-being.

I've seen this "doctor" before. After my experience with him, I told my referring doctor I would never see him again. He took me off a medicine that was helping my symptoms. He told me I could go back on it if the symptoms came back. When I later asked him for another prescription when the symptoms did come back, he refused. I told me regular doctor that I would never see this fellow again. And I haven't. As far as I'm concerned, the man is a liar.

Just like another reviewer I came in for a chronic sinus infection. We talked for a couple of minutes about my problem and then he said he wanted to look in my nose. He looked for less than ten seconds then slid his chair back and said he wanted me to take Levaquin and Prednisone month and then come back, and not another word. Two weeks later I get a bill in the mail for the office visit which is fine and another $350 charge for a "surgical procedure" which was him looking in my nose for secon

I was referred to Melvin 3.5-years ago. I had several lymph nodes swollen very large on my neck. He walks in and asked, why are you here today? I pull my shirt collar back so he could see and his comment - I'm not worried about that, that's caused by sinus infection. After several months of trying different antibiotics with no improvement, my doctor wanted another opinion. I went to a young ENT in Greenville SC. By then it was stage 4 Cancer. He should not have a License to "practice" medicine!

If I could give less than a 1 star I certainly would. About a year ago I had an extreme sinus infection that I was seen referred to Asheville Head, Neck and Ear Surgeons for. I was prescribed a horrible and extremely dangerous/powerful antibiotic called Levaquin and a steroid dose (Prednisone). After a week, my tenons in my arms and legs begin to hurt extremely bad and I called and my doctors nurse said to stop taking it, said she'd enter it in my notes that it was't good for me and never fol
