Dr. Hirshburg took my daughters illness seriously

In 1987 my daughter had a ruptured appendix. I took her to several doctors over a long holiday weekend and nobody took it seriously. She was in so much pain. I had to carry my 5-year-old everywhere because she was a doubled over. Finally, Dr. Hirshburg was back in the office on Tuesday. He took one look at her a knew something was terribly wrong. He immediately arranged for an appointment with a pediatric surgeon, Dr. Marr. It took another couple days for surgery to be scheduled since Dr. Marr thought it was probably a cyst on her ovary. But what was supposed to be at 45 minutes surgery took 3 hours. He said when he opened her up it looks like scrambled eggs from the infection everywhere. I consider her blessed to be alive today primarily because Dr. Hirshburg had the intuition and expertise that something was terribly wrong.
