Dr. Gabriela Trifan, MD

Dr. Gabriela Trifan is a fantastic neurologist. I wouldn't have known about her because UI Health is not my main hospital. I had actually had to use the emergency room at UI Health and was checked into the hospital for elevated potassium levels, but when I was discharged a few days later, I had an unexpected retinal clot cover my eye. This hospital knew immediately what it was and they called Dr. Trifan. Even though I was not displaying any regular stroke symptoms, the attending residents sought her advice. She gave me TPA, an emergency blood clot buster, and placed me on Eliquis. Her team also ran a thorough scan on my brain and neck for any further suspicious activity. Fortunately, they did not find anything. However, I am extremely grateful to Dr. Trifan and the hospital team for identifying and solving the problem before I lost one or both eyes. Dr. Trifan works quickly and smartly! I highly recommend her and her services!
