Be Aware!!
Extremely misleading in informing us about the pricing of our Lasik Cataract and Vision Correction cost. He only told us about the 1 eye per person on Lasik Vision Correction; misleading us to believe that this was the only cost to the entire surgery. Failed to tell us Firstly cataract component is over $1000 per eye; Secondly outpatient surgical center of over $600 per visit; Thirdly Anesthesia cost of over $1300 per surgery. Our cost was more than 2.5 times what he made us to believe. In addition, he promised he would do the surgery himself; though he has been training his daughter and son-in-law as well - turned out his daughter did the surgery anyway. Please be very careful with making decision regarding cost of Lasik with Dr. Lo, make sure to ask about all cost associated with thus surgery. And expect his family might be doing the surgery instead of him. Better yet find a more honest MD, instead of somebody who is too greedy to be a real MD.

Front desk receptionist
The front desk receptionist is incompetent and was incredibly hostile and disrespectful. I will not be returning to this office because he made my visit so stressful and upsetting. My insurance card clearly states that I have a $0 deductible but a high out of package maximum. But, he kept wrongly insisting that I would be billed because “you have a high deductible”. He clearly did not understand the difference but became irritated when I tried to explain. He said any additional tests done today would be billed because of this “high deductible”. His wrong statement influenced my decision to not get more tests. He could not even give me an invoice without a horrible attitude and made me repeat my personal information loudly in the waiting room. He could not do any part of job without being hostile, in addition to lacking basic knowledge. It is a shame because the doctor was great, but this individual makes me uncomfortable to return to this office as I don’t feel I will be taken care of.

There is a front desk assistant, a young man who speaks Cantonese has a major attitude problem. It's a shame because Dr. Lo is an excellent doctor and the rest of the assistants are very helpful as well. I kind of hesitate to visit Dr. Lo again in the future, it is only because of that front desk person. Gosh, that visit was such a nightmare!!

I’ve been with Dr. Lo almost from the beginning (35+ years) of his practice due to severe Glaucoma. I’ve moved to South Texas and cannot find someone as good as him. Although the wait in the lobby might be somewhat long his care of me has been very good. He has saved the eyesight in my eye. If you ask a question he will go into some detail but if you just want him to talk about your case in detail, that’s seems not to be his way ( not chatty) due to the demands of his time in the day. Chinese is the preferred language of his coworkers but English is spoken as well.

Dr. Garlan Lo is a very gentle, caring, friendly, knowledgeable, professional and well known eye doctor. He takes the best care of all his patients. The office staffs are also very nice, caring, friendly, and efficient. They tried to provide the best services as they can, in order to make patients feel comfortable and happy. I would highly recommend to any one who has not yet been seen Dr. Lo before. "The moment you stepped into this office, you will know that it is the right place to visit right away!"

My father and I are both patients of Dr Lo. He works along with other optometrists that I all highly recommend as they are all friendly and willing to address my issues. The wait time is a bit longer than normal when compared to other offices but I think that for the service they provide the wait time is definitely worth it. I would recommend seeing one of the other doctors in the office if the wait time is too long as Dr Lo is usually busier

My mother, brother and my kids all go to see Dr. Lo. He has been serving my family for more than 30 years. He is very knowledgeable and is a professor in USC. His office is well equipped with all different testing machines. My mother had surgery by him, my wife had surgery by him, by mother in law and father in law had surgery by him. All the surgeries turned out perfect. He is the best eye surgeon in the area. His office is very busy because he is very good in his field. Just like a restaurant, if the food is good, the line will be long. Dr. Lo is very kind and nice. He will answer your question until you are satisfied. Go to see him and you will be happy with the result.

I wait for this doctor more than one hour in his office, I believed he was late, no apology at all. He took about 15 minutes to finish the exam, not exam physically, not touch any equipment even, only explained some photos that was taken by his assistants. I visited some other eye doctors before, never see such time-saver procedure. So do not go for this doctor if you have option!

Dr. Lo works in Puente Hills Eye Care Center alongside other optometrists. My experience with the office staff and doctors here have all been so wonderful. They're attentive to my needs, listen to my concerns, and make me feel comfortable in the office.

The doctor has a very good credentials but when it comes to communication He does not speak or explain the procedure or surgery. Dr. Lo will direct you to his assistant who cannot give any explanation. The assistant will give reading materials with limited information. The doctor have so many patients that he can only allow 2 to 5 minutes of his time. I suffered from glaucoma and I am about to lose my vision because of his lack of communication.

The pre-exam eye test is done in a room where other patients sit. There is absolutely zero privacy and everyone could hear exactly what the assistants tell you about your health - this in itself violates doctor-patient privileges. The doctor is patronizing and talked to me like I was a child. He recommended surgery as a potential option for my eye stye, which I did not opt for. Later, I am notified by his office that I had a "removal" of the eye stye. This is a blatant lie. Avoid at all costs.
