Excellent surgeon
You do have to wait to make an appointment. However, when you get in to see Dr. Korus, he gives you his full attention, answering questions and explaining procedure in easy to understand terms. He performed 3 Nissen Fundoplication surgeries, and I will not go anywhere else.

GI surgery
Dr. Kuros was extraordinarily knowledgeable, skilled, and patient. He explained every aspect of the procedure prior to my having it, as well as any unlikely but possible complications – none of which occurred. I recommend him highly!

Really shocked at these reviews. I have been a patient of Dr Korus for over 3 years and could not be happier. Dr Korus is very serious regarding his calling and if you think you are going to pull a fast one over him - you are wrong. Their are guidelines and yes - you must follow these guidelines. You have many options to attend any support group - yes I did prefer the "Graduate" support groups once you were a year post surgery- but that is because I am in healthcare and know the majority of information shared at support group. My surgery was perfect and I have maintained my lost of 95 pounds for over 2 years with their guidance. Yes, appointments are somewhat difficult but I get the first one in the morning so I can get to work at a decent time. I have recommended several people to this practice and will continue. All visits to a Penn Medicine institute are difficult to get appointments and the times are not the greatest. However, if you want the best - you need to be flexible.

The worst! After he injured me during surgery, I never saw him again. And he injured me majorly! In the lead up to surgery - when I would have an appointment at his office, sometimes they wouldn't even know that I had an appointment. OR, they would leave me waiting in the waiting room for up to 2 hours! Very unorganized. I should have taken the pre-surgery work as an indicator. He was never warm, and never seemed really much interested in me as a human being.

Don’t waste your time! This Dr. Is arrogant. His nurse Renee follows in his footsteps as being arrogant, sarcastic and unavailable. Do NOT go to Dr. Korus.

Felt like I was an outcast at UPenn-presby; feelings of frustration from staff projected onto patient; lack of staff honesty and open communication; a punitive environment ie if you are late then LEAVE.; support groups lacked structure and unprofessional as women in group told peers in group what to do but these patients had no experience with WLS. Don’t go here! Not helpful.

Talked down to me as a patient. Not helpful at all. Ordered testing which resulted in significant findings and he never addressed it with me. I wonder if he even read the report. Avoid him because I am not sure how he got to be a surgeon.

Dr. Korus had a terrible bedside manner and offer no assistance or insight into my terrible GI problem. He was dismissive and it was a complete waste of my time to travel into Philadelphia to see him. SAVE your time and money.
