Dr. Gary Oshinsky, MD

In December of 2023 I received a phone call from my Urologist… who starts the conversation with “is this a good time?”. You then find out the results from your MRI shows something… which a biopsy later confirms is prostate cancer. Naturally, many things go through your mind, but you want to see what your next step is. My Wife on the other hand, became very proactive and started making calls. Ironically several people in her circle all demanded I go directly to see a Doctor Haas… the Director of Radiology at New York Langone in Mineola to see what my options were. There was no negative reflection on my original Urologist, but all our resources said this was the finest path. Right after we called his office, he arranged an immediate evaluation and felt that I would be a good candidate for Cyberknife… which he is considered an authority on. He also pressed that I go with his close associate, Doctor Oshinsky… also an expert in his field of Urology. Following many tests, they put me on a regiment of hormone therapy and procedures that culminated in the Cyberknife procedsure. I have now been to Doctor Oshinsky’s office for my continued treatments and as of yesterday found that my results prove their course of action is working as planned. My numbers are great and while I’ll have some continued follow ups with both, I know my choice was a great decision. They are both credits to the medical industry.

I believe that Dr Oshinsky probability saved my life twice by thinking outside the box. The first time was in 2010 or2011. I saw him because of a Urological issue. All test results were normal, but he decided to send me to the Radiology department for a pelvic MRI. This MRI showed that I had a tumor on my adrenal gland. The adrenal gland was removed and the type of tumor would have in time, made my blood pressure rise. No medications would have helped. I would have been going from specialist to specialist trying to get diagnosed. During this time, I could have suffered a stroke or died from high blood pressure.The second time was in March 2023. It was my annual exam. I brought my recent medical records, Including a MRI of my liver. He sent me to see one of the best liver doctors. It was determined that I have liver cancer. Because of Dr Oshinsky, the cancer was diagnosed in the earliest stage. I am now being treated by some of the best doctors in the NYU Lagone System.

Recently switched urologists to Dr Oshinsky. So glad I did. Excellent in every way… took his time with me, caring, thorough, professional. Great bedside manner with exceptional clinical knowledge. Would recommend him highly.
