You can depend on his manner and expertise
I'm 82, and I will soon revisit him due to a recent asthma attack after a 13-year silence. When I saw him a few years ago and told him what inhalers I was on and the directions I had been given....he advised me I was taking one too often and explained the difference between them; one for inflammation and one for an emergency. He was kind but so thorough and knowledgeable. After that visit, I took one puff in the morning and had great control. Now I need him to reevaluate my condition and know I'll get an expert opinion that I'll be totally confident with. Lung conditions require an excellent specialist, not your primary care.

Excellent Specialist.
I had a very serious lung issue many years ago. He was the only lung specialist that could figure out what was wrong and saved my life. I had had deep inflammation in In both of my lungs. I would recommend him and have in the past to anyone with a lung issue.

Dr Kumar took care of my mom in the ICU. All the doctors except him told us she would never make it. But, Dr Kumar, bless his heart, didn't sleep a wink and with the ICU nurses worked hard through the day and night and managed to save her. He then took care of her at Regency, and she made a full recovery.

I went to Dr Kumar for a second opinion before going to Chicago for a condition my cardiologist said could only be managed there. Dr Kumar diagnosed my pulmonary hypertension which my Community cardiologist from St Mary's was unable to treat and started me on treatment. Within a few months my symptoms had improved and I had my life back!

Spent the time to review my chart on my first visit and tried to arrive at a diagnosis and treatment an for us in an expedited manner. Given the limitations in Northwest Indiana, he is like a University doctor, thinking of all the options.

Dr. Kumar is one of the best I have been to see. He is very caring and charismatic physicians I have been to. He has sent me for many tests which I don't like, but hopefully they will help him determine what is wrong. He seems to really care.
