Dr. Geoffrey Cronen, MD

Dr. Cronen is straight forward, could be considered curt by some but many good surgeons are this way. He removed a synovial cyst and rehab was a year. Today I am back to biking off road 10 to 20 miles where before I could barely walk because of the pain. The morning of the operation he came by my bed and he could see the pain I was experiencing. His surgical bedside manner was soothing and confident, both of which I needed. His surgical team, the same way, calm, confident and professional.

My adolescent daughter was diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis and Dr. Cronen was recommended to us. He may be a skilled doctor and surgeon, however, his bedside manner with my daughter left her in tears. We were supposed to keep following up with him every 6 months, but when I mentioned we needed to make an appointment to see him, she would burst into tears and bed me not to go back. She hasn't been seen in a few years and I know that her scoliosis is progressing, but we are now in the market for a doctor that makes her feel comfortable and heard.

Do not waste your time (or his) if you do not need $$$$ major surgery. I have been living with chronic back pain for over 5 years. At my followup appointment he spent a whopping 10 minutes with me and told me that he was not willing to help me and dismissed me. No suggestions or alternative treatments. I was completely shocked.

He gave me the best relief by a shot in the left shoulder which allowed me to sleep and move without pain for once.

Treated me like a used dish rag. As if I were beneath his care. I heard he was great with surgery but had poor manners. I should have listened. Basically told me the issues I’ve been having or previously diagnosed with (even by himself weeks earlier) were fictitious. To “take an aspirin”, everyone has pain, it’s a part of life. Then sent me on my way. When I requested a second opinion, he signed off on my workers comp that I was 100% better, costing me my job because I in fact WASN’T!! Having trouble finding another doctor now, in daily pain. So glad I contacted a lawyer before leaving his office. I knew he was up to something when he started dismissing me. Cronen, if you’re reading this: do better. You’re skilled at fixing people you can operate on. But you have POOR care for others.

Dr. Cronen is intelligent, thorough, attentive and most of all, other than being an all star surgeon, he is honest.

Cronen was a no-show at the first appointment. At the second, he spent maybe 5 minutes with me, told me I had degenerative disc disease, did not offer exam or treatment options, and walked out. His manner was arrogant, even hostile, and I could not recommend him under any circumstances.

Poor bedside manners...workers compensation paperwork was already filled out prior to my examination. He stated my injury was being faked and will report my actions to the insurance carrier. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR.

Dr. Cronen isn't anything like the bad reviews read. I'm not sure what some people were hoping to accomplish, after reading all of his negative reviews and noticing they all had two thing in common. 1. None of them have to do with his actually procedures. 2. People are so sensitive with there feeling. Dr. Cronen does not mince words, he is very professional and gives a feeling of complete confidence. What more could you ever ask for from a surgeon? If you need someone to just to tell you what want to hear. He may not be your guy. Not only as his current patient but with a mother which he has given a new lease on life with a 8 disk fusion which is now years in the rear view. The man deserve credit where credit is due.

I have never left a doctors office so angry. Dr Cronen came into the room never introducing himself to me or even saying hi, I only knew it was him from his name on his coat. His PA had sent me for physical therapy that was not helping at all. Dr Cronen never even discussed what might be causing the severe pain in my arms when I'm in bed. Pretty much told me your MRI is normal and I should find a different position to sleep in, and maybe my primary Dr. Could give me some pain meds. I did bring the written results of my MRI as well as the images. The results said I did have some bulging disk in my upper back. I have had lower bulging disk and I know what nerve pain feels like. I was never allowed to discuss this with him. Dr Cronen was maybe in the room three minutes with me, and I am not exaggerating.

Checking in and out were the only redeeming qualities of my visit. I felt that I was offered little help for my condition and that the doctor did not take the time to understand my history or outline a proper plan of action or options. Some of the provider’s comments came off as condescending and he didn’t listen to what I was saying. He made assumptions about my habits and brushed off concerns I had. He shuffled me off to a pain specialist and left me feeling like I paid $225 cash out of my pocket to sit with him for 15 minutes like he’s a celebrity and I still have no real solution.

I highly recommend Dr Cronen for any kind of spinal surgery in 2010 he did cervical spine surgery on me I tried not to show it but I was really afraid he told me I could sit with patients only but I am back in the medical field tha I love working as a certified nurses assistant full time I am 72 years old that’s to Dr Coonen and staff I can work a few more years

I was unable to walk more than a few feet or stand straight . I had terrible back and leg pain Dr Cronen evaluated and put me in phys therapy Eventually we finally decided surgery was best. We elected smaller surgery with him .It was like miracle I am standing straight pain free,taking long walks. I have my life back .thanks to Dr Cronen and Feel 10-15 years younger. I give him the highest reccomendation and would trust him with my life anytime. God Bless You Dr. Cronen.

Awful would never recommend does nothing for the patient

Very knowledgeable, caring, and informative! Dr. Cronen did my 14 year old daughter’s surgery to correct her scoliosis and did an amazing job! His office staff are awesome as well!!!!

Horrible experience. Waited two and half hrs and he sends his PA, even though I specifically asked to see him when making the appointment. I go over everything with is PA. He walks in and dosen’t even know what I am in for, hasn’t looked at my MRI or Charts. Asks me to repeat everything I finished telling his PA. Totally useless and unprofessional. Milking the insurance system.

Dr.Cronen has been my Surgeon for many many years . I have had a very complicated and very scary medical history Dr.Cronen had actually saved my life on more then one occasion ! I have had many surgeries due to my illness but I have NEVER felt any fear because I trust Dr.Cronen with my life ! He is Kind Compassionate and very attentive to his patients ! He was my biggest cheerleader during my recoveries ! I recommend him to all my family and friends
